For those who bowl summer league
« on: May 07, 2009, 03:18:38 AM »
Do you just go to bowl for fun? Or, do you go to work on some things? If so, what do you work on?
No, you may not handle my balls. Well....maybe just for a little while.

I go to bowl for fun, its summer league.  But I also have fun working on things, like balence and stance at the line and spare shooting.  Not to mention targeting because its PBAX.

I bowl because I like to bowl, plus being retired it is something to do. I also use the summer league to experiment with my grip, pitches, etc as well as work on my game.

I go to bowl because its something I love to do, and I will always love to do it. Tournaments not included Im hoping to not see a THS this entire summer, which is always a plus

After struggling through the first week it looks like this summer I will be working on how to bowl drier conditions again. Avalanche Slide, here I come!

I usually try to work on something, though.

I bowl in a three man league and my Pro Shop Owner is one of my teammates. I actually bowl for fun but learn more and score better because he is an outstanding bowler and helps me understand my equipment, form, and lane reading.

I like to bowl during the summer because we always do something different.  Last year it was a PBA league.  The year before that it was a short and sweet doubles league.  This year we've got a scratch doubles league with match points and a pretty nice prize fund.  We've never had a league like that here.  We bowl two two-game matches per week.  It's a lot of fun.

Most of my big average improvements have come over the summers.  I went from 125 to 150 to 170 and now looking at 190 over summer leagues.

I bowl because I enjoy bowling and want to better when fall leagues start. I'm bowling full time next year at a place I subbed this past season and I want to have a much higher average there this year.

Joining another PBA league this summer (third in a row, no one will do one for the winter).  I'll of course enjoy the challenge, but will also be working on my footwork.  I've had a bad habit of stepping way too far to the right on my last step for a long time.  Ron Clifton showed me something last night.  Did it well for a few games on the Nationals shot, and actually did it good for my last two games of league tonight.  Lined up a good 8-10 boards right of where I had to before.  Really enjoyed not having to be so artificially left of where I used to be.

Don't usually bowl in the summer, but I am going to Nationals in July and need to keep somewhat "sharp" with my game.  Thought a "competitive" environment would help that proceed.
