rotate toward your body, comming up the left side of the ball (you are right handed .. right?)

I'm generally really good at staying behind the ball.  But at release, sometimes I think I rotate more than what would be "correct."  This is not intentional, I guess it's more of a reflex.  If I actually tried to come around the ball, I would never throw the ball well.  I'm wondering how you get decent axis rotation while staying behind it and making the hand face the cieling(more or less) on follow through.  Is cocking the wrist what you're supposed to do?

im thinking its a mild rotation at release , using your fingers , not the whole wrist..  Cant wait to take some video and see how it all looks

Hey MJ79,
After reading your post, and all the responses, I had to write you a little something. You have some great advice here to work with, but I would also recommend that you ask your "driller" for some help (if you haven't already). Since they are there with you, and you seem to be a visual learner, it might be something to consider. I too have been through this process, and in my opinion, it will always be a work in progress. I see bowling as a game of recurring adjustments, and being that our deliveries are rarely flawless, there is always something to work on. But, be positive, everything you work on will make you better. Just be patient and stay positive! Good luck to you, happy bowling.

Hmm < So im at a 90 degree tilt now from rotating my wrist to early correct? Im gonna try it.. What do i have to keep in my mind when Im doing it? Just to keep my palm facing up a little longer before release? I have a feeling Im gonna be hitting alot of gutters and not getting much reaction off the bat here lol

There are a few things that have been said in this thread that need to be cleared up.  First, you don't have 90* of axis TILT, you may have 90* of axis ROTATION.  To learn the difference go to the Unofficial FAQ stickie at the top of the Miscellaneous forum index and read the definitions of axis tilt and axis rotation.  If you want to measure your axis tilt, use the two links that are provided there to learn how.  Axis tilt is very important to know.  If you do have high rotation, that's not necessarily a bad thing.  Pete Weber has almost 90* of axis rotation with very low axis tilt and he's done fairly well.  But if you have high rotation and high tilt (spinner), you're going to have a lot of trouble getting your ball into the hook and roll phases. Good luck.  --  JohnP
