I am curious as to what gripping the ball actually is. I tend to always grip the ball on the backswing, but as the ball comes down for my release I am able to ease up. As far as I can remember I have always done this. Is there actually a pitch out there where you can fit your thumb in correctly and not grip through the entire swing?
