Pro and Cons to both. Sometimes I get the pin the flip and stay up with harder sideways but then I get my 2 handed messengers too.
-
Side rails? As in bumper-bowling?
Or the kick-back boards on both walls of the pin deck?
These are wood, and either within USBC specifications in a sanctioned facility, or not. Last time I checked these are quite hard. They have to be hard or the pins will not "bounce" off them. If you ever find some soft ones let me know because the scoring pace would be very low, and I could compete and dominate against 600 revs... ;)
P.S. To ballreviews regulars, sorry my sarcasm MADE me do it.

How did I know...I only saw the title on the main ballreviews page and I knew what it was.

Funny you bring this up I bowled at a center in the 80's to early 90's that covered the kick back boards with outdoor carpet. Scoring was lower then and I was pretty good I never broke 200 average in that house. Averaged 10 to 20 pins higher everywhere else.

amyers2002,
I've never bowled in a place like that (thank God) but my mind was just thinking of the whole physics part of it.
-
I'm still try to figure out the meaning of "sometimes I get the pin the flip" and "stay up with harder sideways"?????????
-
Bowlaholic,
I help manage a bowling center so I get some pretty creative/unusual descriptions of lane or pinsetter problems. I'm hoping I didn't misunderstand 2handedvolcano's question.
I regularly misunderstand my wife. Just ask her...

This gives me an idea a bowling alley employee could do if they hate their job. Before league night, apply a thin layer of removable foam on all the back walls. Watch the scores drop and the pin action to disappear. The look on the bowler's faces would be priceless.
At one of my early jobs I was a golf course worker that set up course among other things. Setting up course means I also adjusted hole placement on each green. No one told me the rules. Early on I would put the holes on hill points on greens so golfers scores would drop a lot haha. Nothing like barely missing a 5 ft putt and watching the golf ball roll all the way to the rough lol!

I think the topic is related to how it makes the shoes look. Or perhaps it helps show more underwear...
-
sometime from my pin action the score reads a strike with the trip 8 pin and is sorry if i offended anyone with my underware comments
-
Sometimes the trip 8 pins wobbles so much the score reads it as a strike. I meant the two walls on the left and right side of the pin deck, but reading about oil on the back walls was nice.
-
Those two walls are also what support the pinsetter! They need to be maintained as well as other parts of the equipment. It may be a part that the owners or managers neglect not unless the mechanic keeps them in great shape!

I'm sorry, but 2handedvolcano's written comments always seem to be either in a coded form or a language I just don't understand.
" Pin the Flip"? Side Boards referred to as "Side Rails or Side Ways"?
Also, he mentioned "oil on the back walls" and comments about underware. Where was all of that stated. Did I miss it? Dang!!

I believe underwear came from the popular "Flash belt only or belt and briefs during your shot?" thread, where opinions were sought on how much of your underwear you should show during a shot.

I had to create an account. I was a long time lurker but your reply had me laughing out loud and I'm sure everyone in the office heard. Well done sir...well done.

I much prefer softer side rails in my underwear, particularly with regards to the ball scoop area.
-
When it comes to underwear....can't argue with that.
