  • Former good bowler, now 3 games a week house hack.
Well, last night was an adventure of sorts. Evidently, yesterday was the day the center decided to oil “early”, and lots of bowling had been done on only one lane of the pair we were on last night.

Left lane was immediate hook and over reaction anywhere outside of the 12th board, no matter what ball choice you made, while the right lane had lazy backends, and the outsides had oil all the way out to the 5th board.

Played like two distinctly different patterns. Old school bowling at its finest.

Showed me just how spoiled many of us have become to having “good” shots that are consistent from lane to lane.

Not being sharp at all, I tried to move inside of all the mess, and try to play the lanes similarly. That sooner turned into a “Not so good” idea, as a small miss out on the left lane was run away hook, while the right lane turned into a non recovery “out of bounds” area.  Uuuuugggggghhhhhhh.

Ended up playing the left lane 15 to 7 with a Tundra pearl at around 17 mph, and playing the right lane 10 to 5 with a Tundra solid and just a bit softer speed, around 16-16.5 mph.

Managed a 190-192-201=583, and was high on the pair.  ::)

Guys, I got a reminder last night just how “good” modern bowlers have it. Shots that are usually VERY similar from lane to lane. Ball reactions that are familiar, and oil patterns that allow “room for error”.

Didn’t realize just how spoiled I have become.  :-[  :'(

+1.  Sounds like you at least understood the situation and made some of the right adjustments.  Hard to beat experience even if we are spoiled today.

Great adjustments! 7 board difference is pretty big as house shots go! Not only did you adjust, you kept getting better! Good shooting!
Some days you're the bug....some days you're the windshield...that's bowling!

  • I have a name, therefore no preferred pronouns.
You should probably read more threads here. Seems like everyday someone here is bitching about their house shot and how terrible it is.

If they can't pipe the same 10 year old ball up the track or outside all three games then its the shots fault.

This is what we see on a nightly bases at our house and a lot of us have adjusted really well to the conditions. It makes the bowling a lot more interesting and I enjoy it that way.
