Title: help moving closer to the line

Im new to the forum, but i figured i would ask my question here. When in my approach, i usually finish probably 3 feet from the line. How can i get closer to the line. I tried starting closer but i jut take smaller steps and end the same spot. does anyone know of a way to get so i am ending closer to the line?
