Practice Freak
« on: October 21, 2004, 03:53:23 AM »
Hi, my name is Jim and I love to practice. I admit it,..and I'm always looking for ways to improve my game. Yesterday I'm looking through Susie Menshews site www.beyondbowling.com and I come across the neatest thing. Go to the For Stuff box, On Line Store, Coaching Tools,....and check out the Lane Screen. I liked the idea, but didn't think I needed the full screen, but the targeting device across the bottom was cool,...so I decided to build my own. I got the lane width and gutter info from bowl.com, and off to Home Depot...For under $9.00 I built one. Mine has two targeting straps that hang down,..so I can have a place to throw the ball between,..or whatever I want to do. Can't wait to try it out.

BTW---this brought out of my cluttered head the rememberence that Scott Devers from PBA in the 80's had a 1/2 lane or head plus approach sans back 1/2 of lane & pinsetter installed in his basement for same such targeting issues.

Hmmmmm I wonder if I have enough room in the basement?

I just bought a 10ft piece of pvc pipe and cut it to my specifications.  I made 3 of them to really practice. It is not to easy.  When you do use them, make sure the house is okay with you walking down the gutter caps or catwalk to put up your device.
