Now I can bowl in senior events
« on: December 01, 2014, 06:59:23 AM »
Good and bad. As of today, as much as I don't want to admit it, I can officially bowl in senior events. I guess the good is that I am still around to say that I can, and the bad is I am not young anymore, but I still feel pretty good, other than now my knee does hurt more than it used too, and I do have some wrist pain. But I believe you are only as old as you think you are, so I will always think young as I prepare for any senior events that I can bowl in.  I forgot to mention that I will always rock out to METAL no matter how old I get, and that keeps me motivated!  8)

Great attitude! I'm 33 and I think a lot about how I'm gonna be or react when I become a senior... I hope that at least I can be around at that time and still able to bowl just like you! Good luck!

What is the official age for senior events?  I'm 49 and a half, lol.

I enjoy bowling in the senior events.  However it does feel good to bowl in the non-senior tournaments and score higher than the "kids".

All the local senior events here require you be 55.

But I know senior brackets at USBC Nationals is at 50. A local PBA major champion turned
50 last year and cleaned up in brackets.

The bad thing is the competition might not drop off like you think.  Last year at Nationals the optional senior singles and all events both took higher to cash than the open division.  I did okay in team brackets, but in doubles and singles I lost money with 637 and 599.  Two seniors on our squad were high in the squad and took my money.

I have found I make more money in regular brackets than senior brackets at the USBC tournament.  I think it is due to more people playing the regular brackets.  Also the good senior bowlers get in the brackets, but the a lot of senior bowlers don't get in the senior brackets.

Agree CPA.  Also, a lot of the seniors who do bowl nationals are very good seniors.
