Anyone make the trip out and bowl the Hoinke this year?
If so any feedback? My local group is doing our last minute trip out this weekend, and if anyone is around and wants to meet up, shoot me a PM, i'll be getting in Thursday night, bowling Saturday and Sunday at a minimum, and if we can round up a few others adding some doubles and/or teams to fill in Friday.

Never gone to this. Might think of going in future. But how many games does one bowl for each event (singles, doubles, team)?

It's a very good tournament, my local group goes ever year.
Team is 3 games, Doubles is 3 games, and Singles is 4 games.

Make sure you check the high scores before you leave..... the locals wait until the last couple weeks of the tournament and proceed to light them up, using all their sets when the shot sweetens up.
It's been happening for years..... I live in Cincinnati and have been witness to it. That doesn't mean you shouldn't go and you won't cash but the locals have a definite advantage.

Oh we are well aware, and it certainly happened again. Abner and Fehr and their group bowled nearly every shift in the time we were out there this weekend, cleaned up shop on brackets and took out first in team event.
Will say this Ken Abner is a class act and one of the nicest guys out there, was fun to chat with him and watch him bowl.
Group I went with partied more than they bowled, a few of us had some nice sets here and there, but nothing overly note worthy, still had a good time at the tournament and will continue to go in future years.

We used to send two or three teams out there, every year! We stopped after we sent a team that had a PBA regional, card carrying member on it. We notified the tourney organizers that this was the case.....BEFORE WE BOWLED!! That particular team unseated the local team that was in first place at the time. That existing first place team had TWO card-carrying members on it.....one from the south region and and one from the east!
They chose to disqualify our team and allow the team with the two regional members to stay in first place!!
After that fiasco we stopped going altogether! It's their tournament and they do what they want! Just a heads-up!

Yep. Ken Abner is a good dude. So if Jeff Fehr. I have been bowling leagues with those guys as long as I can remember.
The Hoinke Classic is a part time job for those guys, and quite a few other locals.
I haven't bowled in in at least 10 years.... I'm no where near as sharp as I used to be and really can't see me putting up 1100 over 4 games in singles. :o

So you can enter more than once in the Hoinke?
That would give an advantage to the local bowlers.

You can bowl every event multiple times, and all events takes your highest series in each event, not your first one bowled.
