Read a report that this years eastern regional winner turned down the exempt spot on the tour.

One of the other exempt players is seriously considering relinquishing his spot. After expenses he is barely at the poverty level.

It's a shame that the best of our sport can barely scratch out a living out on the tour.

What really gets me perturbed though is when I read that the USBC is sponsoring the women's tour again this year.

When I look back at the history of the womens tour, prize funds were equal to the mens but the women still only had 40-45 entrants for each tournament. Beat half the field and you made $2500.

I guess I'm just mad that the women have their bowling (WIBC, Queens, etc) that is not open to the men, yet they can now bowl in every other event.

Do you guys/gals really think it's fair for the USBC to spend our dues money trying to revive the womens tour and yet allows the mens tour to languish.

Where's all this equality I keep hearing about.

I suggested that the USBC increase their dues by 3 dollars a year for each memeber with the money going to the PBA prize fund. If you do the math this would give the PBA about 7 million dollars xtra to boost the prize fund. I thought this idea would really help the PBA get going in the right direction and would spark a lot of interest in the sport. Think about just how much a 3 dollar increase would be. That's 25 cents per month to help the PBA lol.

I made this post in the PBA forum and it seemed like a 50/50 split between the posters if they liked the idea.

Many of the guys that didn't like the idea said the USBC shouldn't bail out the PBA. However, now I here the USBC is helping out the womens tour? I think that's great because they should have a tour as well. However, I would like to see the mens tour also get some help!

How about this, let the Pro Bowlers Tour encompass ALL professional bowlers, whether they be male or female?

Everyone is always saying how technology has evened the playing field and that bowling is no longer a game of pure strength and stamina anymore, aren't they?

If the USBC is going to spend MY money on supporting a professional tour, let it be one that supports ALL professionals, not just a select few.

Don't want to hear how the women need their own tour to be able to compete on a fair basis. Give them the opportunity to bowl on the merged tour or let them shut up and go home. Those who can compete will, those who can't shouldn't be trying to make it as professionals anyway.
