how to throw a heavy ball
« on: December 12, 2009, 01:03:39 AM »
i have a ball thats heavy now and it feels like im throwing a bag full of bricks. this ball has more hook than my other ball and want to throw like i use to with it. i try to use the other ball more because its lighter. i use the heavier ball in case of emergencies or when im strugging with the lighter ball. what can i do to improve on using the heavier ball?

in my opinion it would be better to stick with the lighter ball and just adjust the surface. if it is hard for u to throw then dont it can only lead to bad habbits. keep it all the same weight that way ur speed wont be effected

I throw the occasional 16 lb. ball, but as I let gravity control, I really don't have any difficulty with it or controlling speed.  Speed is dictated by how high I start the ball in my swing.  It might feel a little heavier, but you shouldn't struggle if you aren't "muscling" the ball.

Sometimes I'll just keep in my head that my hand just a hair in front of the swing...I'm not really pulling or pushing it through the swing, just sort of keeping an easier "flow" in my head.  It might help.
