How do you shoot the 7?

I seem to struggle more with the 7 pin nowadays than the 10...how do you shoot it?

Stand centre, medium hook ball aimed at 2nd arrow, slowed right down. Never miss it now :-)

Couldn't disagree more. lol. On sport compliant conditions, you'll probably be looking at hitting the ten pin or possibly the channel. However, on your THS, it could quite possibly work.

A reeeeeeal slow extreme crank

If the shot is correct, you may be able to shoot a strike and have it hook across. That's hardly ever.

I'm right handed.  I use the inside of my right foot with my marks on the approach.

I target the 4th arrow (center arrow) for all of my single pin spares.  This is where I stand for each one on the approach.  Keep in mind that the boards on the approach are based on the inside of my right foot.

Board / single pin
35/10 pin
33/6
31/3
29/1
27/2
25/4
23/7

I just move two boards ethier direction with my feet to pick off the next pin in line.  I same target at the arrows for every single pin.  The center arrow.

The 8 and 9 pin are as follows.

26/8
32/9

This is a successful approach to shooting at single pin spares.  I throw completely straight at all of my spares except the double wood.  I also am in the process of developing the multi spares off of this approach.  However there are some multi pin spares that are better played off of a different target arrow than the center one.

Depends. I'm most accurate when I can hook it into it. Fortunately, my home house has damn near a flood in the middle, so if I'm not accurate and miss right, I've got a good chance of rolling right through the 8-pin hole instead -- I can't just fake it.

I usually take my feet right 10 boards, mark left 5 boards, take care not to throw it out any, and slow it down. I also move my hand from under the ball to 4:30 (I'm a righty), which gets the ball rolling sooner.

If I get on a condition where hooking the ball is just a weird proposition all around, I'll flatten my wrist, take my spare ball and throw the crap out of it dead straight, from kind of a cross-lane angle. I'd rather not do it that way, but I can if I need to.

The tips in this thread seem to have helped me with the 7 pin, which was hit or miss (mainly miss any more) with my old technique of standing way right and rolling over the 2nd arrow and hooking into the 7.  Carrydown would usually make the ball hang and cause it to be a real sporadic shot for me.  After reading this thread, I'm now standing with my left foot around 30 and rolling over the 5th arrow with a little hook.  This has worked every time so far, even on spotty oil and carrydown.  Hope it continues.
