Sport Card Prices
« on: July 28, 2007, 04:50:01 PM »
I talked with a local USBC representative that I know pretty well, today, and he mentioned that not only are 298 and 299 rings going to be done away with, but the sport cards are going up from $9 (in addition to USBC yearly fees) to $15 + USBC yearly fees.

With sport bowling on such a rise as it is, do you all think that this is a bad move on USBC's part, because I surely think it is.  I mean, It's not the fact that $6 is going to make, or break, me, but the fact that they're almost doubling it when it's a relatively new idea, quite on the rise.  I guess it's just another way for USBC to make a buck.

If it means additional staff to make sure tapes are read in a timely manner, then no it is not a bad idea. It would be nice to know why the increase and where the money is going.

Also, we were told as long as you sanction before 8/1, you only pay the $9 upgrade and it is good until next year.

I actually asked him the same exact question, about if I bought the $9 this summer, and he said that it expires on the 1st of August, but if I had bought a USBC card AND sport card in the summer, it would go to next year.

And true, it'd be great if that increase does go to helping the program, but I hope (and USBC hasn't shown a good track record of this so far) that USBC fully explains the reasoning behind the price increase.

That's what I heard as well.  We had one new bowler that had to get a regular sanction and a sport sanction and his sport sanction doesn't expire until August '08.  Everyone else who bowled in this summer PBA league and bought sport sanctions, they expire in less than a week.

Our association secretary tried to put down that they expire in '08, just like any other summer sanction and was told by the USBS that simply is not the case.

Lame, sucks.

That is bullcrap, I am going to have a lot of pissed off people at me because we sanctioned our summer pba experience challenge and made everyone pay the 9 upgrade..
