whenever i try to get rid of a slump regardless of time of year is have a practice session by myself and break down my game from the ground up and do drills focusing on what i think im doing wrong. if that doesnt work i go my coach for a lesson then another practice session to get the muscle memory that he changed (fixed) and that usually does the trick

Like cheech stated, you first need to identify the flaw then correct it. If you dont know or cannot pinpoint it out, get a lesson.

This summer I bowled great, now not so much. I know what the flaws are, but I still requested coaching from a teammate.

It could be a lot of things. It could be mental, it could be ball choice, it could be you letting the people around you who are voicing there opinion about how bad something is impact your play. Honestly it could be a lot of things and that's for you to figure out. Practice is something I believe helps a lot because you can work on things you know need to be worked on. You may be like a lot of people and have so many bowling balls that the choices are overwhelming and when you are bowling bad you blame the ball and continuously switch to something you think should work better. Other people's complaints might be slowly feeding you the same thoughts. There is just a whole lot of stuff that can put you in a slump. Hell they may have changed the oil pattern a little to something you haven't figured out yet or are having difficulty adjusting too! Just have confidence in your game and bowl to the potential you know you are capable of.

What does your spare game look like? How many opens are you having per game or per set?

Ok. What about previous years? Are you down in average or just not having as many high games as before?

With that average range you are looking to work on consistency in shots, spares, and working on being able to adjust as the lanes change/transition.

Fewer strikes along with opens will do that. You may want to video yourself bowling and see if what you think or feel you're doing on the lanes is what you're actually doing.

Videos of when you are bowling good, and bad are great to keep on file for reference. Lessons may be another process to consider.

+1
Those open frames don't seem like much until they start spacing out where you have strikes/spares and deflate your score extremely.
