Sport League Summary.
« on: May 22, 2004, 12:16:06 AM »
I started my sport league Thursday evening. The house
was old gardian last year but put the newest HLP'S
in over the winter. The league started off with a
meeting in which everyone chose to have 3 weeks of
one sport pattern then 3 weeks of a tour condition.
back and forth until 13 weeks are up.
WEEK#1
We started out on what we ended on last summer.
50' Tournament of Champion Pattern. Several
guys that are bowling in this have multiple
300's and 800's. I think I ended up the high
man with 543, and thats my composite average
from 2 leagues last fall. I am either not bowling
on a house pattern or I am not consentrating enough
during leagues. As I was bowling Thursday I noticed
that the lanes I were on had 2 dark boards then 2 light
boards across the lane, as long as I could keep my ball
on the 2 dark boards #11 and #12 I could smash the pocket.
If I put one 1/4 of one board to the right or left of those
2 boards I was SOL...
I did win all 6 match points and you get 1 point for every
50 pins of a series so I have 16 points and the lead in the
league after night one. My GOAL is to average 180 in this AND
finish in the top 3. 2 more weeks of the TOC pattern and then
on to short stuff for 3 weeks. I will try to keep this post updated
as I bowl each week.
Oh and as for equipment the Nugget was GOLDEN on this pattern. Played a small
swing from 11-12 into the pocket. I was light numerous times but a little
tenative on jumping around on the approach as I only missed 6 spares all night.
I left the 1,2,3,4,5,7,8-3 times and made it once. I left a 2,8 and a 3,9 and missed both of them, I missed a 10 pin and a 4,7,10 split. Shot 543-173,188,182.

WEEK#2

Update on week 2
Shot 185,153,188 for 526.
Shot this week broke down way quicker than last week.
I got caught and had to surrender to the pins the second game.
ended up throwing the rock straight up 17 to the pocket
end over end to get to 153 the second game.
Had 16 points last week
15 points this week.
only lost one game so far!!!(2 points)
Ended up playing the same line to the pocket
with my Pro Purple that SrKegler kindly sent me.

I am curious if the PBA patterns are Sport Bowling Compliant otherwise I see a contradiction in terms.  Either way, good shooting.

I am unsure if they are sport compliant or
not but the league is not sanctioned as a sport
condition. BUT they are TOUGH!! 1 1/2 boards is all
the area I get to play with. Speed has to be consistant too.
Maybe I should have said sport condition/PBA
condition league. I have bowled on this once
last summer and once this summer and shot 550 last year
and 543 the first time this year. I would say if I got to bowl
on the pattern week in week out I could average 195 on it, which
I don't think is too shabby.

From what I hear the PBA patterns are not, by definition, sport compliant.  I believe that a couple may be, but not all.  But they're all tough.

Update WEEK #3:

I got there about 25 minutes early after
almost being late last week. Same 50'
TOC oil. Shot 530, with games of 224,117, and
189. Did you ever have one of those nights
that NOTHING seems to go the way you want it
to? well this was one of them for me. Started off
with the nugget and 6 brooklyn strikes on the
left lane of the pair, I kept pulling the ball
in on that lane for some unknown reason. I moved after
the first game and lost all sense of reality the second game.
I could not find the pocket 2 weeks in a row the second game.
Oh by the way I was tied for 1st place as we went into the
3rd week. I lost 2 matches this week. I am pretty sure I will
still be in 1st place but no lower than 2nd place next week.
Overall a very decent showing from this bowler. 543,526,530
on 50' of oil. Now we move to 3 weeks of a Tour Pattern yet
to be announced. Probably whatever the regionals are using this
week or last week.
