Need To Fill A Hole
« on: February 27, 2007, 05:44:01 AM »
After bowling in a doubles tournament last weekend ,I discovered a hole in my arsenal. It may even be a hole in my game.
Due to a lack of oil, I was forced inside of third arrow. My Dynothane Energy
was having trouble turning the corner. I'm not exactly Supercranker, and although I managed a 616, I wasn't happy with the shape of the shot I was throwing. I need something that goes longer with a more pronounced backend so it doesn't look like a fall-back shot. I need a ball to make up for lack of genetics. Any suggestions? Thanks for looking.

Well, to start, what balls have you used in this situation that haven't worked for you, besides the Energy?

Nothing in your profile about technique.  What's you "A" game like?  I believe it to be technique related not ball related for the most part.  Most go for the quick fix in the ball being the problem when in the long run it's something that will plague you forever if you have problems moving inside of 3rd/4th arrows.  Two words....side rotation.

My normal shot is down and in. I swing out 2-5 boards usually between 5 and 15.
I don't get much practice playing deep because where I bowl league, I don't have to. It just seems when I get inside, around 15 or 20, I feel like I'm throwing a straight ball. The ball doesn't look like its hooking. More side rotation helped me this weekend, but it was tough getting the ball to push down the lane. Too wide and no recovery. I get the same look with some of my other equipment as well. My "length" balls are too mellow to turn, and the more aggressive balls won't get down the lane.
