Help with picking Bowling Ball-back into it!
« on: December 12, 2006, 12:09:07 AM »
I used to be in leagues growing up and quit bowling when kids came along about 13 years ago and had around a 210 average when I quite (I'm now 36).  Well, I'm getting back into bowling again.  Needless to say, my equipment is a bit out of date.  I've been using my old bowling ball which is an Xcaliber (not sure who makes it).  Anyway, the place between the 2 fingers is completely gone now after starting as a crack 13 years ago.  My father had the same ball and is cracked all the way around the ball.

Anyway, the ball still performs pretty well....I'm pretty inconsistent right now....but in about 10 games I've had a few games in the 220-230 range.  It doesn't always finish strong for me as when I miss it's usually a little thin, but seems to be about the right type of ball for the lanes I bowl on.

So, can someone recommend a ball with the same type of hook as the xcaliber....maybe a little stronger finish?  I'm guess this ball is considered a medium oil ball.  Or is the Xcaliber still considered a descent ball and perhaps I can get the ball filled where it has cracked?  I'm always for saving money, but I'm guessing balls have come a long way in 13 years.

Any advice appreciated!

thanks,
Bill
