list off some of the best smooth bowling balls for med/light oil. Thanks
-
Visionary Gladiator LE..there's one on ebay currently.

900 Global X is probably your best bet, although it's hard to find a smooth reaction on light/medium patterns. At least that's how it's been in my experience.
-
for me, it's these two....lane masters power strike and blue hammer
-
+1 on the 900 Global X. Also, a Break Down, or Chemical X are also good options.
-
I really like my storm match solid. I go to it when my BTU starts to get a little jumpy and I need something more smooth
-
You could try layout changes to get the ball to do something different. Short pin to PAP on a symmetrical and a hole on the midline for good measure will smooth out the ball roll. As well, you can try Urethane just do a good amount of surface to combat the lack of oil absorption.

Lane Masters Wasp series are pretty even also.
Storm Tropical Storm Hybrid and the Ride are pretty even, in general.
Brunswick LT-48 Vintage is very even, as is the Fanatic BTU.

Larger VAL angles smooth out many balls, as does the very basic concept of sanding a polished ball to 2000, 3000 or even 4000 grit.
The equivalent is true of asymmetric cores: Moving the PSA/MB towards the PAP/VAL can smooth out the ball reaction a lot.

If you can find one, the Venom Panic has a nice even arc on light/medium conditions.
-
I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Rebel Tank. Pearl urethane with a light bulb core.

But then all urethanes are supposed to be very smooth ...
-
If you can find one-I LOVE my Blue/Green Centaur. Never over reacts!
I can't believe Visionary doesn't make this anymore.
I've had way too many people offer to buy this ball from me! NOPE!

Reactive
IQ tour with a pin down layout.

Understood, but if you're on light oil, use a ball that won't check up in the heads.

i wish i got the TBH when it was available...
The LT48 is smooth too, but on lighter conditions it's hard for me to keep this ball right.

If you want to ball out and import an international piece... I highly recommend Storm pieces with the NRG Smooth coverstocks. Absolutely nothing like it in the states
Storm NRG Smooth pieces:
Marvel Maxx (discontinued)
Marvel Maxx 2 (discontinued)
Nano Lock
Virtual Gravity N/S
Marvel Maxx Gold
Wild Bite Extreme
Marvel Maxx Gold (now very scarce)
Nano Lock (now very scarce)
Virtual Gravity N/S (on sale)
Wild Bite Extreme (newest)
-
Sword U is another sick option... Pitch Black cover with the Marvel Core :o
-
One ball that has not been mentioned that is smooth as butter is the Brunswick Fanatic; a benchmark price that offers a smooth, but controllable motion, with great predictably throughout the entire lane.
-
Buttery smooth and my go-to ball is still the Storm Ride. If I need a little more length with a little more pop, then out comes the Joy Ride. 8)
-
My vote would be the Rack Attack Grape Solid. Smooth and predictable.

The LT48 is smooth too, but on lighter conditions it's hard for me to keep this ball right.
The Tropical Storm IS the Tropical Breeze. They just changed the name to get more sales. The Hybrid is still there; in fact, Buddies still uses the picture of the Tropical Breeze in their web page for the Tropical Storm.

I thought it was blue in color. I just saw too that the heat is a hybrid... Christmas birthday gift to myself lol

looks like I'm going to try a Global X. I've read to many post suggesting the BTU was stronger then expected.
-
Freak Show
-
I 2nd the IQ Tour solid with a pin down layout. The ball is the definition of smooth.
-
Freak Show
nope not mine. although it is a good ball
-
+1 My freakshow is also far from smooth, very snappy off the breakpoint. Just as strong, and even stronger than some of my medium pieces.
-
Guess it's just me and my low rev rate and such then :P
Well I am bowling with the Freak Show the most these days. Only play on medium oil really. I've played on a sports pattern once, and not even the Grudge ball I have would hook on it for me :P

My pics for smooth: DV8 vandal brunswick fanatic

Both the Fanatic and the BTU Fanatic are very smooth. The Fanatic is stronger but I've found it to be very smooth of the spot and not too aggressive. Both pieces play really well on medium to medium dry lanes.
-
For medium-light oil, my vote is the Ride. One of my favorite balls all time because it is super predictable.
-
I am a no thumb bowler with medium speed, my go to ball on the toast that is super smooth is a weak drilled Motiv Freestyle. It amazes me every time I use it, the best weak ball I've ever had.
