NU BALL REJUVENATOR
« on: July 16, 2014, 10:19:44 PM »
The Nu Ball Rejuvenator was the subject of a 5 page thread in March 2013. Rather than drag all the posts here, I started a new thread.

I received my Nu Ball unit today. Since I am a recent retiree and a senior citizen, I received a senior citizen discount from Salmon Creek Bowling Products in the sum of $80.00. So the purchase price of the Rejuvenator was $199.00 which includes shipping. Check the website at http://www.scbp.biz. Scroll down under "Nu Ball" to "Seniors" for details on the senior citizen benefit.

For me, the unit is worth the money. Several posters have turned food dehydrators into oil extractors. I have never had success with DIY projects, so making my own unit was never an option. I have tried most of the home remedies: hot water baths, my wife's hair dryer, and the dishwasher. Some are OK; some are not worth the hassle.

The instruction pamphlet that comes with the Nu Ball unit is written in plain English. It is almost impossible to misunderstand the wording. The Nu Ball is very easy to assemble, although you sometimes have to tinker with the tabs on the center section to get them to mesh with the base---not a real problem. The unit has a temperature gauge running from 85-145 degrees---a nice touch.

I used the unit with my Nail Titanium---125 degrees for 60 minutes. I was surprised at the amount of oil that came out of the NT which is not an oil guzzler. I was pretty careful about ball maintenance: wiping the ball with a microfiber towel after each toss and cleaning the ball with Clean n' Dull every 3 or 6 games at the outside. As one of the posters said in the earlier thread, there is no substitute for controlled heat.

Based on the early returns, I recommend the Nu Ball Rejuvenator.

St. Croix, extremely well written. I also own a NuBall, and everything you wrote is 100% correct.

Wylie, the owner, is a friend of mine. He has set up some discounts on the website for certain categories of customers.  Please contact him to see if you fall into one of them.

Very awesome. It gives people the opportunity at maintaining equipment at a high level for years to come.

Oil extraction and a ball spinner are two great investments for any individual who buys a couple bowling balls a years. You will find on a few balls no oil ever comes out. That is normal. Clean it, adjust the surface and bowl on. Those two items hand in hand I use on a regular basis.

I recently bought a new 1/3hp ball spinner for $219 shipped. As a DIY person, for the price it was to good to pass. With paypal as a payment option you can get 6 months no interest payments with it.
…… you can't  add a physics term to a bowling term and expect it to mean something.

kidlost2000, I was successful with the DIY ball spinner, but I had some equipment/parts available to me at work that many do have the luxury to get.

I do not know anybody that has one of these. I tried to order one already, but the site had the price marked incorrectly and would not honor that price. However - my DIY oven was a huge disappointment (even with $0 invested in it).

I have my eye on this unit, and will hopefully be getting one soon.

Steven, thanks for the note. I am pretty sure that you wrote the comment on the value of controlled heat.

I haven't gone back to read that thread, but it sounds like something I said.   :)

I believe a personal Rejuvenator is almost a must have given the oil sucking covers we have today. For the price of a single ball, it's a no-brainer purchase. For those with the ability to build it as a DIY project (i'm out), you're even further ahead.

Hope you continue to enjoy the Nu Ball unit. It will pay for itself in a short period of time.
