Is anyone else dreading the start of leagues?
« on: August 01, 2019, 07:02:10 AM »
My Wed nite league starts Aug 22nd ...... The LAST thing I want to do in August is be inside a bowling alley.  34 weeks -- UGH.  After 30 years of this stuff, I'm almost ready to hang it up.  The issue is, once it gets cold, dark and nasty outside I will miss it.

Why can leagues start when we roll the clocks back and end when we roll them forward -- that would be perfect.  8)

Find a league to meet your criteria. Good luck though. I always look forward to the start of the league but after about 20 weeks in going to the same place week in and week out, i'm ready to be done also but that's why they have travel leagues and I'm bowling 2 this season.

34 weeks is ridiculous. It ought to be split in half into 2 seasons - 17 weeks each.

Can’t wait.

Sure, sometimes it’s tedious doing the same thing 30 weeks in a row, but I’ve got some of my best friends on my two teams. I look forward to having an excuse/opportunity to see them every week.

Bowling is supposed to be fun. If it’s not, quit.

I'm ready.  After barely picking up a ball all summer it's time to re-visit my footwork, practice, and get going.

I'm looking forward to it this year more than usual. There have been years where I considered not bowling due to my work schedule, but I'm ready to go this time.

If/when it gets to the point of "dreading" the start of league, I will be done bowling.

I'm in 3 leagues that are 33 weeks longs.
All the leagues are talking about going to 28 weeks and even a couple leagues are talking about going to a 4 man teams.

I'm looking forward to leagues starting up again...to either find out how many bad habits I picked up from bowling a challenge league this summer or finding out how much the challenge league helped me.

Good question. Life definitely has happened to me this season where it’s been more challenging than ever to continue to bowl on a consistent basis.   But after getting my life in order slowly little by little, I feel I’m ready to get back out there, although I wonder how much do I have left in the tank.

But as a few of you mentioned, (milo) you’ll know when it’s time to hang em up, but these old bones still have it in them.  ;D

Not really dreading, but going through grip changes and still need to plug and re-drill a few balls

My favorite time of the year is the last night. I like bowling, I HATE league.  Slow bowling, guys/gals taking some breaks between games, etc its just exhausting. My teammates know what they're getting, I will pay for the full season and maybe show up half the time. Certain teams stress me out, I simply wont bowl against them. I bowl on Monday nights and I will not miss monday night football to bowl. Inclement weather? Im not risking life or limb to bowl 3 games of league. If it wasnt a sport league I wouldnt go at all. I stopped bowling house shot leagues 4 years ago and I could not be happier.

Not at all.  Its a 20 week scratch doubles league that starts in September.  We bowl four games and are in and out in about 2 hours.

Can't wait for it to start…… laughing at the 36 week leagues starting up this week and next. Enjoy that 9 month grind

I need a league like this. The grind of all those weeks, 4 man teams, starting at 7:30 not getting done until 10:30/11, Im exhausted just thinking about it.

I haven't bowled league in years. Career, kids, wife, all take enough of my time to not want to go get murdered in brackets by some nozzles. I would join a sport shot league, or a mixed league with my wife.
