Little history...
I hadn't bowled in like 2-3 months. Three weeks ago I decided to go practice. Had great reaction, shot 2 279's. Bowled 8 games so after not bowling for 2-3 months. I was tired and had those body and muscle aches you get. The next week I went practice again. This time I bowled 5 games, shot 1 279. Ball was still working great, when I threw it right.
Third time going practice, high game was only 246. Ball was still working good but paid up front for 10 games so I was wore out by the 8th game and 4 22 ounce beers later. My Resurgence still worked good but since I was tired and not throwing it all that well, i wasn't scoring good.
I went practicing Wednesday. Paid for 4 games. First game I played the same line I almost always do. Ball was working great, hitting 10-11 at arrows out to 8-5 at break point. End up shooting 258. Next game, my ball didn't appear to be driving as well and was coming up lite. I moved right a board yet it still seemed to be coming up lite every now and again. Carry was getting worse, more 7 and 10 pins. Last (4th) game I move right even more, I try hitting 7-8 board at arrow out to 8-4 at break point. The ball would still now and again hit lite and carry was still pretty weak. Lite hits that I usually carry 7 pin I was no longer.
So is it me not coming out of the ball all that well? Not throwing it aggressive enough?
Do I need to get some of the oil out of my ball? I haven't done it in a while and didn't do it yet because it has been reacting really well and I didn't want to screw anything up.
Was there a bit more oil on the lanes? Maybe the first game pushed it around a bit?
What are your thoughts?

It's hit or miss when I practice. I have no way of knowing if there was a birthday party there earlier that day. I actually prefer the carry down lanes anyway when I practice.
Edit: I see you didn't mention scores after the 258 so I assume they were worse. I've never known a ball with oil absorbtion problems to show signs mid practice. I'd lean towards lane oil or release.

Sounds like conditions might be varying and your release might be slightly differing.
