Better Ball option for me: Guru Mighty or Primal Remix?
« on: July 06, 2015, 01:02:41 PM »
Just looking for some insight on what may be the best fit if anyone can give some. I know the remix isn't out yet but I'm looking to fill a hole in my bag.

Currently, I use an original guru for fresh heavy/long patterns, and I also have a primal rage that's one of my favorite balls of all time and is best when lanes are transitioning. I need something in between the two. Both the remix and mighty seem to make sense due to the cores/covers they use, although they have different shapes.

My guru is pin up with a low hole, very strong ball that reads early yet still finishes well. I often need something a touch cleaner that'll still give me a good backend. The Primal, which is pin under middle, goes too long to be the perfect ball down from the guru. I love the shape of the Primal, but often times it's not enough ball to use as a starting piece. I'd like something that's a bit earlier than the primal but still has a strong backend. I don't need something that's early and smooth.

Would the Remix be the answer? Or would the cover strength cause it to be too early and smooth down lane for what I'm looking for? Or would it be better to go with a Guru Mighty, which from what I've seen doesn't lose it's backend or energy retention even with a pin down layout?

Right now I have a Reax V2 Solid that I intend to replace at some point, it's my main benchmark ball. It fits between the Guru and Primal perfectly however it's very smooth and doesn't create enough angle when they're breaking down. Basically I'm looking for something to complement that shape.

Additionally, I have nothing pin down in my bag besides the primal, and pin under middle usually rolls best for me, so whichever ball I look to drill will probably have that layout.

Which would be best to go with? Or am I completely off base with this and should I make room for both balls in my bag?

Thanks in advance!

I'd do both.  It's only money...

I'm more intrigued by the remix, its got a better track record of success so far..
In the bag [Infinite Physix, Volatility Torque, Night Road, Phaze III, Burner Solid, Hustle AU]
*Now Testing* IQ Ruby, Renevant, another IQ Tour solid
Coming soon...???

Its hard to gauge the track record of the Remix since it hasn't been released yet, but the red ball looked good on burn.
What I do know is that I've had quite a few opponents post numbers at me with their Mighty's to start blocks.

Hard to speak to the remix with it not being out yet. I do know several people with the mighty, and they all love theirs.

Honestly, if you just want it to be a touch longer and more angular than the guru, I'd get the guru mighty.  That's what is was designed for, after all.

The Remix won is first PBA National event the first week it could be used on tour. Thus the comment by Bill. Meanwhile, the Guru series seems to be a marketing ploy for hook in a box. But how often do we need these big hookers? I know MoRich seemed to think they were a necessity and we have seen how that pained out. I personally will be using the Remix, but that's because the Redball is amazing and this seems to be an arrow stronger.

Of the Guru's, the Mighty has a hybrid cover and with similar drills should be cleaner through the fronts of all the Guru's. The Master is targeted to be the "hook in the box" that should be released today.

You may also want to consider a Radical Primo, a cleaner version of the Guru Mighty. It surprised me with how it came off the spot without being over/under. Great ball to hook around a pattern.

Per Phil, it is not a hybrid but a solid with length additives.
