Approximately 3 years ago I was hit with Lumbar Sacral Radio Plexothapy, and my bowling went WAY downhill! I could not slide anymore, and I used to have a long slide. Now it was plant and throw. I just couldn't do it, even with some excellent coaching help, my game was down by 40 - 50 pins. I was very close to quitting this game I have enjoyed for over 40 years.
Last night in the 4th frame of the 3rd game, it was Voila! A completely FREE non-muscled arm swing...10 in the pit! And for the rest of the game I was either X or 9/. It was like I never had the injury, except I still was planting. But my swing was FREE!
I am so glad I didn't give up, and that my teammates hadn't given up on me. Tomorrow I will hit the lanes for a game or two to hopefully see if I can maintain this new found freedom. And hopefully will be finally back on the right path.
If all goes well I may even be able to return to the Senior Shootouts!

Very happy for you .. congratulations and good luck!

Excellent news!
Now go kick some a$$! ;D
-
Excellent! Even without physical problems it always feels great to execute like you know you once could.

Thanks gentlemen! So many times since I got hit with this disability I wanted to retire from bowling, but now it's time to refocus. Hopefully my game moves forward and if I can get back 50% of what I lost I will be pleased.

Congrats on the comeback...mine has taken 10 years of off time for wrist to heal and fire brewing in the belly!

I think after coming back from an injury I appreciate the game more now than I did prior to the injury. I think many of us lose why we started the sport to begin with once we hit a certain competitiveness level. The injury made me rethink that and I came to realize I was happy just to be able to get on the lanes.
Congrats on the comeback. It might be a slow go, but just glad you are back out there.

Congrats, I made some changes that I believe are finally kicking in with help from Gizmo, JustRico, LuckyLefty, and several others, now just need to up-date my equipment. I had problems with an sore middle finger and a few other ball issues. There are an lot of well-informed people on this site.

I told ya going lefty was the best choice. Lol
All kidding aside. Congrats now it's time to go after it

ROFLOL @ Brian Green! Brian it feels fantastic to have a free arm swing again, and it JUST HAPPENED! I hadn't even realized how much I was muscleing the shots until all of a sudden it was as if my swing was that from the scarecrow in the Wizard of Oz! I believe I have also managed to bowl without the long slide and plant, although my knee would prefer the slide...lol
Now perhaps I can begin to bowl well, and actually enjoy the game once again.

MTFD24: A hearty congratulations on your newfound "freedom". There is nothing
like a free armswing!
-
Congrats on the free armswing. How did it go the next time?

Hit the lanes again last night. First game was hit and miss with the free arm swing. Found myself "grabbing" the ball at release a few times, but only "muscled" it on two spares. @nd and 3rd games were much better, and scores on the rise.
Gaining some confidence, and hopefully will keep the forward momentum!
