It Wasn’t a “Choke” was it?

Last night my first and second games were the best I have ever bowled in league. Threw the first seven in both games then cooled down. Ended up with a 265 and a 263.

Now the third game was a different story. Threw two strikes, then left a solid 7 pin (left-handed). Missed!!!

Threw another X then left another 7 pin, MISSED!!

Threw another X then left ANOTHER 7 pin, and yes I missed that one too. So here I am thinking that an 800 was possibly in my reach and I watched that go to hell.

Too make matters worst I had to strike on the last ball to get a 700. And yes, I did. Threw a huge 172 for a 700. My first one of the year so it wasn’t a total wash.

I wouldn't say you choked because you lost your carry on one of the two lanes, but missing 3 single-pin spares in a row is pretty bad.

If you "choked" anywhere, it was on your second balls, not on your first.

  I know. I felt more pressure on me while shooting at those single pins than I did anytime throwing strikes. Funny thing is I don't miss a lot of 7's. I kill my hand a just let the ball roll straight across the lane at them.

  Later (hindsight is 20/20) I realized that I was spotting the wrong part of the lane. I happen to be left-handed (a good thing) but right eye dominate (a bad thing). I always look two boards to the left of the broad I want to hit. When I was shooting at the spares I was looking AT the mark. Oh well, next week!

naw, you didnt choke. but if you needed that last strike for 800 and left a 7 pin, i'd say GAG!!!

HOLY CRAP!!  I thought it was just me!  Now I don't feel so bad going 223, 233, 162 last night!  Sure does suck though, man was I pissed!  What made me mad is that I have been struggling with spares on the left side - well I made all of those last night, but started missing the ones on the right side (which I usually never miss).  What an aggravating game!  Better luck next time!

I have a nightmare story too!

Its was about 3 months or so,Oh its still kinda fresh,cause
NOT did I choke a potential 7 or 6,but I got the following!

264,220,also,ready for this a very NIIIIIIIIIIIICCCE 110 game,gee man!
I couldn't reach the 6-0-0!!A big total of "594" that particular series.
UGH!

I've blown many 700's as well as 600's too,even a 500 when I really mess up.lol!!And occassionally a 400 as well!!!

I'm not ashamed of being a Chokasaurus Imessuptomuchicus!!!!

Choking is not all fun,but you learn from it! I know it sounds/reads out hokey,but if ya didn't have BAD nights ya wouldn't have GOOD ones would ya!!

I'm sure as the thread goes on there will be a worse one than mine(aka I hope?)

Uh,just keep practicing I guess.

I have had one of those games last year, but it still was a great series for me.  To let you know, my average at the time was 173 at the time.  My following games were:  235-248-147.  The last game was bad, but it was my 1st ever 600 series.  Then, here is another kicker, 3 weeks later I shot a 115-143-133. It just goes to show you how god you can be one week and how bad the next.

Appreciate all of the replies.

Did have “some” redemption last night. Bowled a pretty good set. Another 700+, 768. Didn’t miss any of the 7 pins like I did the previous night.

Just by looking two boards left of my mark and “killing” the ball worked.

On friday in my first league I go 222, 155 and then 278. Second game I couldn't get my release rigth, all my fault. At least I recovered nicely. Also on the league after I shoot 267( robbed in the 8th frame, missed the spare), 237,225 for my first 700 ever(729).
