Its called a brooklyn but why?

I just have a quick question...I know that when you hit the other side of the pocket as a righty...they call it a "Brooklyn", but I never knew why??? Can somebody shed some light? and is there any other terms? I know its called a messenger when you hit a strike when you send the seven pin across the lane hitting the 10 pin, is there any other?

Ive always called it brooklyn, but today I heard someone in our area call it a Jersey for the first time. I knew people called it that, I just never knew they did around here.
