Roto Grip Mars....What's Similar??
« on: April 14, 2014, 10:41:43 AM »
Been looking for a ball for lighter oil/dryer lanes and  found just the thing last night. Too bad it belongs to my stepson.  Went bowling and just for sh*ts and grins I thought I'd throw his Roto Grip Mars.  Wow!!!  What a ball!!  Perfect for the lane conditions.  While my Hyroad Pearl and Thunderstruck Pearl were taking off on me the Mars was a very nice, consistant shot.  Shot a 224 which was my second highest game of the night....  After that I told him if he ever wants to get rid of it to let me know!!!

So my question; What is a (current, or at least readily available) ball that would compare to the Mars in it's charcteristics?  Doesn't really matter what brand either.  Thought I had my search/choices narrowed down to a Storm Natural/Super Natural or possibly the new Pitch Black but after throwing the Mars, I'd really like to get something similar.

Thanks,
Aaron

Thanks for the replies, but I can stop looking.  I asked to borrow the Mars yesterday for some open-play practice on some even drier lanes than Sunday evening and shot an even 600 series, with a high game of 211.  Not too bad for a 176 avg bowler....  When I told my stepson how I did he said I could have the ball, giving him an excuse/reason to buy something new.

As somewhat of a review/opinion/observance;  The Mars is a much more controlled shot on the drier lanes than the HyRoad Pearl and even though I threw a 246 yesterday with the HyRoad (had a 611 series with it),  the Mars was a more consistant shot.  But it still might be a little too strong for really dry lanes, but it's definitely easier to adjust the shot and it's a welcome addition to the bag.

Thanks again!!
