Title: Lane Machines Sanction vs Wick
Post by: Dakota on June 03, 2019, 10:49:08 AM
Hi Fellow Bowlers  and Coaches - I am working on becoming a Gold Level Coach.  My current research paper has to do with Lane Machines, either Sanction or Wick. (1) Do you know the manufacturers for this equipment?  Currently,  I have identified Kegel, Brunswick, Qubica / AMF, Alibaba, Century, and China.  (2) I have been trying to find an old picture of the lane guy using a "Bug Spray!'  Anyone have this type of picture?  (3) I  have 16 of my 20 Research Papers Completed! What a wonderful trip!  I have learned so much! More to come - Coach Denny O

Type “oiling bowling lanes by hand” into the googler and there is a picture of a spray gun

I used a rollo mop and applied three passes of oil. Starting with one right down the middle and one on either side of the first. Then taking a lino-duster and cross wiping to the end of the oil and then back to the foul line. Then push the lino duster from the foul line to about four feet past the end of the oil and then again to the end of the oil. Always had some pretty scorable lanes. Learned with the sprayer but eventually wanted something a little less messy.

This past years Hoosier Classic (collegiate) was done by hand and the bug sprayer. Len Nicholson was the one doing it.

Good luck on getting the Gold certification Denny.

Hi All - Thank you for the information and well wishes.  Interesting that the Hoosier Classic was oiled with  a "Bug Sprayer!"  Back in the day that was Hi Tech! Given today's technology I am surprised!  Must have been some special event idea.  I thought that I might run into this circumstance in some third world nation as their National Head Coach.  Denny O
