Any interest in a video of this?
« on: December 12, 2013, 09:29:36 AM »
Really hope I'm getting a camera and editing software for Christmas . . and one of my first "productions" was going to be drilling a ball from start to finish with all the "trimmings" meaning I'd explain several different or smaller things you don't see or hear watching a generic drilling video.  Layout discussion, weighing the ball pre-drilling to make sure you either allow enough weight in the right place for adding a weighthole, or if not adding a weight hole making sure you come out legal, drilling techniques, an adjusted IT installation, etc.  I know there's plenty of drilling videos out there, I was going to go a bit more in depth, but that may not be interesting enough, so I wanted to field opinions.  Pro shop guys will already know all this, and if you don't drill, the extra information might just be boring.  Thoughts?
What would you be if you were attached to another object by an inclined plane, wrapped helically around an axis?

Strap the go pro on your wrist and get a frame by frame of the release.  Do something we haven't seen.

My release would cause dizziness or seizures . . but I get the point.

Find guys with rev rates in the low 200's, low 300, and 400+ and strap it to their wrists.  I can't believe nobody's done it yet.

I'd do it, but it's 2013, not 2003, so everyone would accuse me of playing it in slow motion.

Strapping a go pro to your hand and throwing a bowling ball wouldn't show you anything. Ceiling, pins, floor, behind bowler, floor, pins, and then ceiling again.
…… you can't  add a physics term to a bowling term and expect it to mean something.

wrist/forearm pointed toward your hand.  I'm a little smarter than that.

I think your results are still going to be disappointing. You don't know till you try.

One of you guys that actually bowls is going to have to try it.  Me doing it would require me to go bowl, which ain't gonna happen.

I don't think you could learn much from it, but it may be cool to see, if it works.

My last video I had a camera to test on the bill of my hat. Unfortunately it was crooked just enough I couldn't use the footage in my reax2 video. If the cam was mine I could mount it to my arm for your idea. Since I was borrowing it I can't risk breaking it. No idea what it cost.

I watched Kelly Slater take it surfing on 60 Minutes.  I would guess they are pretty tough to break.

Different kind of vid cam. Smaller then a go pro. Its almost identical to a roll or quarters.
