Do you think they are "dying" during a 3 game series?  Or do you mean over a period of 45 or 50 games?

For the former, you just need to adjust.  Modern balls are like sponges that suck up oil from the front part of the lane.  When this happens, the ball actually uses up too much energy early (burns up) and has nothing left for down lane where you want it.  The normal adjustment is to move your feet left (assuming you're right handed) a few boards.  Usually you want to move your target the same direction and a similar amount.  This will allow the ball to find fresh oil so that it properly skids, hook, and rolls down lane.  For example, if you were standing on 17 and hitting 10 at the arrows, you might move your feet to 19 and target 11.  That's moving in "2 and 1".

If your balls seem to hook less over 50 or so games, you have several options.  If there is a heavy track (parallel series of scratches in the ball to the left of your thumb and finger holes (again assuming right handed)), the pro shop can resurface the ball.  The other thing they can do is remove the oil from the ball.  There are several home remedies you can do for that as well.  They all involve heat.  They are easy to do, but you have to pay attention to what you're doing.

Give us some more details about your problems and we'll see if we can help you out.

One thing you can do is save oil logged balls for sport tournaments!

For me it takes about 10 years for them to get to that point but then they are ready!

Definitely try a full resurface and give it a good bake in a revivor oven or use the hot water method.  If that doesn't work, then it's usually time to either part ways or use it on a much drier lane condition.

If they are good when the lanes are fresh, but not so much as the lanes are drier, then they may be "rolling out", which is caused by finding too much friction too early.

Two things you might try: 1) Make a move inward so you can find some head oil, or 2)  Go to a weaker (polished) ball that might allow you to stay closer to the friction.

It would help to know what balls (and surface prep) you are using though.

If you start out with the Black Widow Bite, it will probably start rolling out after 1 or 1-1/2 games since that ball needs oil to react.  The Arch Rival also handles the same types of conditions as the BW Bite (the Bite is pearl, Arch Rival I think is a solid), so it also can have the same issues.

You may just simply need to adjust to keep both balls working longer in a league set.  If that doesn't work, then going down to a weaker ball can do the trick.

If you haven't done a resurface/bake in a while on the BW Bite or Arch Rival, it wouldn't hurt to do that since all balls do need it periodically.
