Let the 2013 staff changes begin
« on: April 28, 2013, 12:05:37 AM »
Well, it's that time of year where we see some of the pro staffs change.  Here are a few that I have heard of so far.

Amleto Monacelli has joined Ebonite.   He is now the international sales rep for Latin America and the Caribbean.  A news release of this was done a while back:
http://ebonite.com/news_events/news_detail/amleto_monacelli_named_ebonite_international_latin_american_caribbean_sales

For those watching the PBA League this year, you may have noticed that Amleto was throwing Storm earlier in the year with the tapings.  On the last show, he was throwing the Ebonite Champion.  He's also been throwing Ebonite exclusively on the PBA50 as of late.

Track has named 3 new staffers.  According to their Facebook page, they are Mika Koivuniemi, Jesse Buss, and Dan MacLelland.  Ebonite is no longer allowing 4 brand contracts, so expect to see a lot of people choosing 1 brand.

As for Dan MacLelland leaving Columbia 300, that leaves Chris Barnes as the only PBA staffer for that brand.

Even more interesting, is that Mike Fagan may be leaving Track.  Now, I have not seen anything specific other than someone mentioning it on their Facebook page.  If he leaves, who knows what his next ball company will be.  Fagan has thrown Brunswick, Ebonite, Hammer, and Storm in the past on tv.

Ryan Ciminelli has left Brunswick and is now part of their sister brand DV8.   "Mr. 300" Bob Learn Jr has also joined DV8.

Brunswick made Jason Sterner a full time pro staff member.  Wayne Webb has also joined Big B.

Motiv has a sizeable pro staff now.  Dick Allen returns and the 5 other members now include Patrick Girard, Anthony LaCaze, Jake Peters, Brett Spangler, and Lee Vanderhoef.

There will be others during the summer most likely, but this is what has already happened over the past few weeks.

I'm pretty sure Liz Johnson is back with Storm. She was throwing an IQ Tour Pearl in the WTBA Woman's telecast.

Liz Johnson has been back with Storm since November 2012 after her 4 brand EBI contract ended.

She bowls at the same house where I get my stuff drilled and I have seen her throwing the IQ Tour Pearl, IQ, Lucid, and VG Nano when she's there practicing.

I wonder where this leaves Missy Parkin and Scott Norton. Both were only recent EBI signees and were using all four brands.

My prediction is that Missy joins Columbia 300.  She seems to match up well when she has thrown their balls on tv and won with the Omen.  I could see Scott joining Hammer or Columbia 300 as well.  He seems to throw those 2 lines the most and has been successful with the Enigma, First Blood, and Oath.

why would ebonite even limit their staffers to only 1 company?i guess the more chances they can get on tv doesn't appeal to them

We can throw what we want at national stops but are limited to our brand in everything else. No more 4 company deals.

At this stage in the game...loyalties are out the window, pros and otherwise are going to go where they can and get any kind of compensation, plain & simple

Can you blame them?  If something is going to match up better for me, I'm going there. Plus the $!

Rico has it right, if you get guaranteed money anywhere in bowling right now, you take it.  So what if you suck with their equipment, if they're gonna pay you to throw it, throw it.

Totally blows a hole in the whole "ball loyalty" thing.
Long Gone also posts the honest truth which is why i respect him. He posts these things knowing some may not like it.

This is nothing new.  Walter Ray seems to change every couple of years when his contracts run out.  Sure some of them stick with one brand, but not many.

It's official.  Mike Fagan's Facebook page has him with the new argyle Storm jersey.

I don't watch the pros much anymore, but I have to say I'm pretty impressed how far Fagan has come since he broke into the tour.  Good for him.
Hit the pocket and hope for the best

Yeah, I've given up on the PBA, the stupid team format was the last straw for me. Fagan is great, but he became elite with Track.
