Loco Pearl replacement?
« on: February 12, 2019, 12:15:36 PM »
Family,

I need help as to find a good, suitable replacement for my Loco pearl, as it’s time to retire it, but can’t seem to find anything out here that’s remotely close.

What would guys recommend? It doesn’t matter what company, thanks I’m advance.

I'm a little confused. You're wanting something that is a slight step down from the Ink but the AD Pearl is too similar being 3-4 boards weaker?

I suggested the solid version, because of the smoother motion; My thinking was a pin down layout, polished where it could give me just that little bit of separation ( slightly earlier/smoother, vs my long and archy ink). Would these 2 work together this way?

Hustle ink, pin up, 2000 grit, medium conditions
After Dark solid, pin down, polished, light med/ light

What do you think?

I don't see the Ink being anywhere close as weak as the After Dark. It's more Boost area. I like this lineup a lot.

Thank you doom for your input; I’ll consider the red boost, then just decide the kind of shape I need.

If you're looking for a fast transition, pin ups are fabulous, but if.you want to smooth it out a bit, go pin down. Use your favorite pin to pap.

Hustle POW, any pearl boost, OR AD pearl.  In that order...

If it was a replacement for the  loco solid then hustle ink, AD solid...
In the bag [Infinite Physix, Volatility Torque, Night Road, Phaze III, Burner Solid, Hustle AU]
*Now Testing* IQ Ruby, Renevant, another IQ Tour solid
Coming soon...???

Bill, I also appreciate your input as well, now that you switched to Global yourself.  I’m strongly looking at the bubblegum boost; Looks very intriguing to me.

Bill how about we get a write up of your journey of going to Global? Ball for ball swaps you made, and what you see out of their pieces.  ;D

It looks like your mind is already made up, but may I suggest a Motiv Freestyle Rush?

Loco Pearl   2.57  .025
Rush          2.60   .030
Boost         2.54   .043
AD Pearl     2.56   .030

The closest cores are the Rush and AD Pearl. I would look at placing a similar layout from your Loco Pearl on one of those and adjust surface if needed to control length.

I’m going to my pro shop today to discuss my options..... the Rush is another ball I considers as well ( I did, however throw the original freestyle and it overreacted off of the dry, and not enough in the oil).

I’m pretty much down to these 2 choices, thanks!

That is fair. I know they changed the core numbers in the Rush and gave it an upgraded cover. Just food for thought. Both look good for the dry below.

here is Angel's video for the Rush

here is Angel's video for the AD Pearl

Ok, I'm not trying to be a company shill, but I think you'll find the Freestyle over under with that weight block. Numbers mean something, but you also have to look at the core shape, because that's going to dictate motion. The elliptical shape of the Loco and the AD are much more similar than the Freestyle or Boost. Taller cores will create a different motion, regardless of minor RG and diff differences.

After the discussion with my PSO, I’ve decided I’m the after dark pearl.  Thanks again to all who chimes in to help; So many to choose from, can be confusing at times. :-\

Doom, with your helpful, ambitious nature to promote your brand, I expect you to be at the top in the future, there’s no quit in you. Excited to try a global piece. And it’s from the Utah plant ( I throw mostly Storm/Roto),  I expect a great piece.
