Looking for a new arsenal ...
« on: April 13, 2015, 01:35:20 AM »
....for my 15 year old daughter. She only throws 12# but I'm moving her up to 13, hoping for heavy 13. She says she good with the 12#'s but it's about that time for her to move up. Her ball speed is slow and more controlled, maybe 11mph on a good day.

Her current 3 ball arsenal is a FreakNFrantic,, a Shout, and a white dot.   The white dot is automatic, so looking for 2 more balls that complement each other. With her slow speed, not looking at the big oiler balls, but more mid range to low end.

Any suggestions for a good 1-2 punch?  I'm thinking Rocket and Ride.

The two new pieces from Radical, Rack Attack Solid and Pearl would fit that young lady very well.

I would personally dodge the Forza with only 11 mph.  The Tag looks to be a good ball so far.  If there is a need for something stronger, I would lean toward the Shock.  A little more control and usable for her speed.

I guess I should say I recommend Motiv since they have the same core shape in all weights of their balls.  Not everyone does.

Defiantly not the Forza, with that ball speed. Probably the Venom Shock and Ascent in the Motiv line.

Hammajangs - I think you have this already covered, the Rocket and Ride would be excellent choices to replace the FreaknFrantic and Shout.

900 Global makes an interesting matched set of balls too, called the All Day and All Night.  Start your set with the All Day and when you see some transition you pick up the All Night to finish.

Thank you for the suggestions.  No 900 Global at the pro shop here, but got most everything else, or can easily get it.

I know it didn't come out yet, but also keeping my eye out on the Soul/Soul Mate, also thinking about the Gold Rhino Pro/LT-48 combo.

Grease Monkey POW! - good for those medium / medium-heavy patterns & Grease Monkey Whack! for those medium-light / medium patterns. The pefeormance you get at the price you pay is a really great value.

Thanks RB, i actually just won a 14# Grease Monkey Whack in a raffle a few days ago.  I told her that I would give it to her to try, but she refused, saying that it's too heavy for her.  Thanks for the suggestion!

Thanks spmcmcgivern, i forgot about the core thing in lighter balls.

Does this affect balls lighter than 13 or 14?

Also, anyone know off the top of their heads what companies do this?  I was showing her the responses, and being a girl, she's leaning towards the Rocket/Ride combo, but she hasn't decided yet.  I'm in no way implying that those are girly colors, just that she likes the colors, LOL.  But when it's time, I know she will throw that aside and pretty much let me (with all of your input, of course) decide on what is best for her.

The only company that uses the same core on all weights is motiv, some other from 13 and down use a different core, others 14 and down different core, so I would go motiv due to the weight she will be using.

And as milo said, maybe the forza might be too strong but try some cover changes and it should be good, plus IMO from what I've seen, the overall hook of the rocket vs the motiv is pretty similar.

Radical uses the same core design in each line in all available weights. Like most companies you will get slight differences in the RG factors but the core design in each Radical line will be the same from weight to weight.

First impression is Radical also has the same core shape in each ball.

Nothing wrong with Radical equipment, but I like what Motiv has done recently which is why I suggested them for your case.
