Hi All,
I am looking for a true heavy oil ball with the following characteristics:
1. Symmetrical core
2. OOB RG of 2.50 or higher
3. Gets through the heads pretty well without bogging down if oil volume is a little less than heavy
4. Rolls well playing up the boards or swinging ball out
5. Is not DOA, if ball trajectory carries ball into the track area for a couple feet
Any suggestions?

Alright, wishful thinking I guess.
How about if I limit the criteria to the following?:
1. Symmetrical core
2. OOB RG of 2.50 or higher

Curious why the rg of 2.50 or higher?

The only 3 balls that would even be remotely close for a symmetrical core would be the Marvel-S, Covert Revolt, or the Moxie. But, those are definitely not 2.50 or higher (2.48, 2.47, 2.49 RG @ 15 lbs respectively). Having a Covert Revolt, it will work for some heavier patterns. But, for the soup, IMO asymmetrical and a strong solid cover is really the best way to go.

earlyrolling, I would go with the moxie with out a doubt. this ball is made for the oil and will cut through it with ease.. LMK how it works for you after you punch 1 up.. you wont be disappointed and you'll be able to say after wards. wow he was right ;)

Something with the two piece core. Maybe the new Lane master are still pouring that type of ball. Two piece cores will pretty much always run 2.55 to higher on the min rg. Lord Field may also have an oiler that's a two piece core.

I'd suggest the Ringer Solid with surface adjustments as needed. It will do more of what you are asking then most true heavy oil bowling balls. Second would be the Beatdown with surface tweaks as needed.

If you can find one -- a place like BowlerX.com still have them in their inventory -- a Meanstreak Beatdown is a good ball in heavy oil. Much will depend on how it's drilled and the surface you have on it. I use 16-pound equipment and the RG range is from 2.523 to 2.571, a differential of .048. The numbers are 2.536 to 2.584 -- same differential -- if you're choosing 15-pound equipment.
Kidlost happened to have mentioned the Ringer Solid. Here's a video of me using both pieces in a recent practice session (9.15.2014). I've stated before in a previous post, for me there's about a three-board difference, no more than five, between the two.

I think someone asked "why an RG of 2.50+"?
This was because I wanted something that could still tip a little down lane, when I am playing deep in the heaviest part of the oil.
I think someone was also wondering "why symmetrical"?
This is because my release is still not as consistent as it needs to be shot to shot. Sometimes I still have a late release (thumb not come out early enough), due to squeezing, and I heard that for asymmetrics that you really need to be pretty consistent with your release to get a good ball roll.
Is there a heavy oil ball with an asymmetrical core that is very forgiving with releases?
(If I went the asymmetrical route, wondering if the Ruckus Feud would be a good option?)
