Worst ball you've owned
« on: August 03, 2015, 12:31:24 PM »
I know this might be a delicate topic, especially with some of the staffers here. What are some of the worst balls you've owned/thrown and why? I used to be a dedicated Hopkinsville (Ebonite, Hammer, Columbia, Track) guy, and now I throw primarily Brunswick stuff, but I will be the first to admit that every company releases a dud now and then. Here are my top 3 worst and why:

1. Ebonite Apex Addiction: The first five letters of the name sum it up. I couldn't get this ball to change direction no matter what I did. Until I was on a condition that I needed to play straighter on, then it would hook just enough to be unusable.

2. Brunswick Zone Pro Azure: Hooked for 9 games, then nothing. Tried polishing. Would not polish. Tried sanding. Ruined the sand paper, didn't touch the ball.

3. Matrix Trimax III: Loved the first one. Enjoyed the second. The third one was the antichrist. Not enough recovery for the length right up until I made that last 1 to 1 adjustment. Then, runaway.

There are several others that were close to making the cut: V2 pearl, Wildcat, Absolute Curve, Marauder Madness, Tombstone.

The aptly named Deuce from Storm.
Complete piece of crap. So over under for me and speed sensitive. After 30 games with it I gave it to a friend who was disgusted with it also, after leagues he was rolling it in the parking lot.

As a former Track staffer for many years, I was able to try one of everything for free. Glad the Crash and Rule Delta 1 were free because they were both garbage for me. I think the Delta 1 would have worked in a particle shell. The reactive shell with such a strong core made the Delta an over/under nightmare.

Crash just down right sucked in everything.

I never threw the Delta 1, but I loved the Crash. I could get as far left as I wanted with that ball!

Have  to agree the Motiv Venom Toxin.  Ball hooked, but hit like a marsh mellow on  medium to light oil conditions.  Sold it!

Doom,

I was able to purchase Crashes on blow out from my distributor for about $35 a ball SHIPPED around a year after the ball came out. I literally could not give them away and resorted to selling ball raffle tickets on league night to give the ball away, including drilling for the winner.

Still barely couldn't give them away.

Oh well

Storm sync for me. First 6 games went 770, 770. After that the ball was already dead for me. Couple of cover changes noting. Best ball for 6 games I ever owned.

My alltime worst balls:
1. Ebonite Killer Instinct - hooked in bag but never on the lanes
2. Brunswick Inferno Series - no matter which one I used they all flared as hell but hooked about 5 boards and hit like pillow
3. Columbia Shadow/R - got it in Florida on holiday shot my highest series 1362/6 with it on the lanes went back home to germany and had a premium spareball
