just got a backyard bully and it's probably the most skid flippy ball i've had...that being said, i mean it goes as long as other stuff i've had, but seems to have a bigger backend finish. i've also heard good things about the morich shock & awe, supposed to come back from anywhere. the roto grip oracle vision is a good skid-flip ball, probably won't go as long as some of the other ones, but can handle a little more oil b/c it's particle pearl. hope this helped.

Is this a new ball?
or do you mean MoRich's Shock and Awe?

Track's Xception can have a fairly large backend for medium oil patterns, as well as Storm's Triple X Factor.

Usually balls for TRUE medium-heavy oil patterns are not skid/flip balls. there are many skid/flip balls with large backends, but they are mostly for medium-light oil patterns.

If you throw a box condition nemesis on medium/light oil, its got HUGE backend! The visionary Green Gargoyle has massive backend on lighter stuff also. The shock & awe is supposed to be insane on the backends though, like better then anything else. I'd give that a shot.

The only good piece of advice I can give you is that the longer and/or heavier the pattern, skid/flip is either not possible or desireable.

What are you using on the pattern right now?  That will give us an idea of what your definition of medium to med/heavy is and how much backend you are used to.  A profile with your stats would be a huge help as well.

If you want backend, you probably want to stay with reactive.  If it's med/heavy, you might want one of the newer strong reactives drilled to flip and adjust the cover accordingly.

Some choices:

AMF Velocity: Particle pearl, but supposed to be very angular
Brunswick: Ultimate Inferno
Columbia: Big Bully
Dynothane: Thing Lives
MoRich: Shock and Awe
Roto Grip: Oracle Vision, another particle pearl
Storm: Vertigo
Track: Rule

My biggest skid/flip ball is the new RSX from Roto Grip. For a mid price ball this thing is very sharp out of box finish. And it shreds the rack too! It is easily 5-7 boards stronger than my Oracle Vision. Roto Grip Rules!!!!
