First time back.
« on: April 02, 2012, 11:05:26 AM »
I got asked to bowl in a tournament yesterday. I was not wanting to bowl in it but let myself get talked into it. I went out last week and bowled 2 games Tuesday and 2 on Thursday just to knock a little rust off as well as work on timing a bit.
Now to the tournament. Started first game off with front 8 finished with 266. Second game started front 9 finished 264. Both times I got a little excited, hell had been a long time having that for me. Third game I lost my carry. I finished off with 195. Forth game still did not have my carry back however I did find a line to use even though I felt like I was off just a little since I could not carry. Finished that game with 203. First four games in a competitive tournament in many years and shot 928 so I am DAMN happy.

Nice job!  Sometimes you don't realize how much you appreciate something until you leave it for a while.

After the layoff you probably had nice concentration in your practice sessions and the tourney.  I think it's because you don't take anything for granted.  You know that timing and execution don't happen by mistake, and thus you keep your head in it better.

Now that you are back, the test will be keeping the mental game sharp not only from night to night (league), but from shot to shot. I tell people all the time that once you pick up your ball "give yourself 5 good seconds" to key in on 1 or 2 things before throwing the ball.  Good luck as you proceed.

Thanks guys. My focus was a lot better then before. I realized that I actually paid attention more compared to when I was bowling all the time.
