Possible League Options, advice.
« on: March 31, 2014, 10:09:54 PM »
So this year, i pieced together my own team in a league i've bowled in the previous 3 years.  I'm about 202-204 average range.  I had lined up a 209, a 207, 200 and a 199 at the end of last year.   The 200 had to back out with one week before the start of this season due to employment, and i had to settle for a 140 average guy.  Not quite the same feel of the team i was shooting for out of the gate, but made it work.   209 is running about a 204 this year, 207 is at a quite inconsistent 191 this year, and the 199 and i are in the low 200's.

I have one bowler not wanting to bowl with his dad next year (also on the team), his dad has no-called no showed 3 times now this season.  The son might be moving, if he get a job opportunity. I've stumbled upon 2 decent subs, but they can't play every week.  I've stumbled upon a 145 sub who could play every week, and might have the ability to get a 210 avg bowler to move from another team.  I know I can have the bodies field a team next year, but would have a mix and match roster all season.  I would love to get about a 1000-1020 average team, where all 5 players are typically the same. (handicap 80% of difference in team averages, 4 point system)

I may have an opportunity to jump to a perennial roll off team, but would be a part of a 6 man rotation.  And i don't really want to leave my (was 209,no 204) anchor bowler behind, he was my first commit, and only other one to show up ever week this season, and we would then be a 7 man rotation.  I want to bowl every week.

Question is, do I keep piecing together a team, and hope some year it falls together, or jump to a team that i may not play every week, but would be a solid team, with eyes to help watch for bad tendencies, and a strong drive to win, and maybe try and get the wife to allow being a part of a rotation of another night?

Put together the best team you can with 5 guys that you enjoy bowling with the most.   The only person that is going to remember what you shot or if you won is you.

Itsallaboutme consistently gives the best advice on this forum.  Winning is fun, but you'll have a lot more fun bowling with people you like.  Bowling teams are just like any other team, if you load up a team, it may not work out like you think.  But if you bowl with guys you like, especially in a handicap league, you should win most of them too.  You'll bowl better if you're having fun.
What would you be if you were attached to another object by an inclined plane, wrapped helically around an axis?
