really, this early?
« on: February 27, 2014, 10:49:45 AM »
I don't get to go practice much and I don't bowl leagues either, so I was eager to go bowling since I took off early from work yesterday. I still had my "just in case" equipment in the locker at the alley, which gave me more time to pratice before I had to pick up the kids - it was around 2:30pm.

I noticed the Center had did some touch-up paint job outside which was nice to see. But, I noticed it was kind of dark looking from the outside while looking for a parking spot.  I walked in and I thought they turned the alley into a Night/Disco club!! Cosmic bowling was on big time! With only 5 lanes being use.

Did AMF do this to all centers? It seems like they are desperate to make $$$$.

I ended up leaving and not bowling. I don't mind cosmic bowling, it's actually good for practice, but I wasn't in the mood for it. Loud music, lights all over, and a large projector screen showing videos. Not for me at 2:30 in the afternoon.

Actually, you're lucky they were open.  A majority of their centers aren't opening 'til 4 p.m. most of the week.

I know you said you weren't in the mood for all of those shenanigans, but.......I purposely practice during open play, as close as possible to a kiddie birthday party, and when they have the speakers pumping loud music.

It really hones my focus.
Some days you're the bug....some days you're the windshield...that's bowling!

They announced it a few weeks ago.  Other than league time, all other hours open could be devoted to what they call "Extreme" bowling.  Makes the practice sessions a lot tougher  ;D

It's Landpark Ric.  I figured it was to attrack non league bowlers to the center. I did say there was only 5 lanes used, but the parking lot had some cars out there. So I assume the bar was busy.

Yes, it's a good way to practice with all the noise and lights, but I just wasn't in the mood. I guess for now, I have no choice but to practice in the dark. I already have bad eyes from looking at X-ray images all day lol :D

Yes, stop by.  We bowl the 2PM squad on Saturday and both squads on Sunday.

There are only a few AMF centers in CT, none near me.  The only effect it has on me is the guy I call on in on of the centers used to open at 9 a.m.  Now he is only able to do it twice a week so I have to remember the days.

They must have had a league bowl that morning otherwise they wouldn't have opened.  AMF website says they don't open til 4 on Tuesdays.  You could have shown up Tuesday afternoon and been like WTF.
