You are undoubtedly the demographic that is going to grow membership lol

Actually, I am. I got my daughter and her new husband to do a summer league with me (both non-bowlers). They both had such a good time, that they recruited a few of their friends to do a regular 35 week league. When Bowlmor bought the house where their league was, and began to push them out, I found a slot for their league in another house to keep the whole situation from falling apart. I'm fairly certain most of the bowlers would have otherwise quit and stopped sanctioned bowling all together.

So yes, thank you. I'd like to think I've done my small part. It actually feels good to do something instead of just complain.

Amen!

Us bowlers have to save bowling instead of sitting on our ass crying about some one else needing to do somethingood about it.

3$ more? Who cares? They have employees to pay and insurance to cover the employees is not cheap.

Morpheus just proves the point I have made many times, the only problem with bowling is the bowlers

That's the solution in the nutshell. Looking for any organization to accomplish what we can do much more effectively is pure silly.

I'll gladly pony up my additional $3....

Before I posted this, I had asked the ladies in my department (I'm the only male) if they wanted a "bowling night out" one weekend day. The last time I had done this, one employee joined a saturday night league and two others/families go "cosmic bowling". My old supervisor takes his two girls bowling once a week!! He had recently asked me to help his girls with basic bowling.

My 13 old boy is now getting into bowling, soon my 3 yr old too lol....

There's $3 in my truck, somewhere in the desk in my den, my tool box, my 3 year old doll house or toy box.. lol

So basically what it comes down to is sacrificing one beer or value meal over the course of the year.  Is it really that big of a deal?

To some... yes.  The common argument I hear is at $10, members feel they don't get $10 worth of value.  Of course, perceived value is subjective.  Some put more value on bonding than others and the same can be said for all of the services USBC provides.

So if $10 was too much in their opinion, then $13 will also, especially since it appears there won't be any increase in services for the members.

For me, I am not expecting $10 worth of services or "stuff" when I send in my money.  Much like other organizations, you really can't get your money's worth or the organization will not be able to function.  You have to feel as if you are giving money to a cause or charity.

Some may not like that term (charity), but for me, I am a willing donor.  I enjoy the sport of bowling.  I like watching the events online.  I like having the ability to go to USBC tournaments.  I like some of the resources USBC provides.  But that is me, and I realize I am different than most members.

I would like to hear the argument that the fee itself is NOT worth the bonding.....in essence, the argument that there is little value on bonding.

I like having the ability to go to USBC tournaments.

I do too.  It is quite fun.  I feel like I get sanction value off of this experience alone....."but that's just me".

But, but, but...I gave USBC $10 LAST YEAR...and there is still famine in Africa. They are obviously just wasting the money.  ;D

It will be an additional $5 making it $25 here in Metro Detroit. I will GLADLY pay it. The USBC isn't perfect, but nothing better has come along to replace it (I'm looking at that joke called the American Bowling Consortium).

Just like golf needs the USGA for at least the rules of golf, bowling needs the USBC for at least the rules of bowling. Plus, both run tournaments for their members and test equipment. Plus, the league bonding and member discounts the USBC gives you is well worth the money. If you don't use the member discounts, you are missing great savings that would save you way more than $25 a year.

If you are still hung up about not getting your patches, magnets, key chains and siladium rings, you need to go find something else to do. Bowling doesn't need or want you.
