Meeting fellow BR posters and bowling...post your experiences
« on: January 02, 2005, 04:59:01 AM »
Had the chance today to meet up with Rock77 (Ryan) and bowl with him for 3 hours at his home house, Holiday Lanes in Somerset, MA. It was a nice 90 minute drive for me, a great 40 lane wood house that was playing hard probably due to the cosmic bowling from the previous night (and who knows if they reoiled). The midlanes were hooking like crazy inside of 8, and there was a decent amount of oil outside of 5...

We had fun trying all of our equipment, playing different lines, talking about everything related to bowling and we traded off beating each other a game at a time (we got the chance to get 8 games in...). He made a believer out of me with the Xception, what a great medium oil ball that is, great explosion at the pins.

Now I've had the pleasure of bowling with two BR members (R-Zitro in Kentucky and Rock77 in Massachusetts)- who have you had the pleasure of meeting and bowling with from this board through the years? Tell us some of your favorite stories...

Matt

I have met a few guys off BR:

Chazman819
SawMill
Typhoon
Tom Mongeon (forget his screenname)

Every one of them has been a stand up guy and are now all valuable members of my business.

I thank Scott SCriver for starting the BR forum and allowing me to meet these guys.

Harry Legthigh and I live about 25-30 miles apart. We made a ball trade a couple of months ago. I met him at his bowling house and we swapped the balls. Harry is a great guy. I would like to bowl with him sometime, but it would have to be at my bowling house because the prices are cheaper....lol

I have up to now only met one fellow BR member, Brian Green, who chose to test his skills against our area top bowlers this past summer. A fantastic person, very congenial, and has lot's of game. Unfortunately he is a lefty...LOL.

Ooops, forgot about BaxFran, whom I've had the pleasure of knowing for years. He is one fantasic bowler, many ABC records and honors, past PBA member, etc., etc. But more importantly one fine gentleman, great story teller, and satnd up comic.

Hope to meet many many more this summer (hint hint 2nd weekend of July).

There isn't enough space to list all the great BR people I've met.  So far my total is 304 so far.  Probably would be easier to list the ones I haven't met yet.

I've met Legend4Life95.  He bowls on the league right before my sport league on Wednesdays.  I've not bowled with him, only observed him in action.

One of the lurkers on BR is a good friend of mince.  As far as I know, there are no other members that I've met or talked with.  However, I cannot be certain; because of my PBA status and the fact that I travel I may have met more of the members here than I know of.

Yes, it was alot of fun to bowl with somebody from the board.

Matt, I am glad you enjoyed the house. Also didnt realize we bowled 8 games, honestly, I thought it was more but who's counting?!?

The shot was difficult. Almost like a reverse block. It was alot of fun to experiment with our equipment. We even bowled one game where we only threw plastic, me and my White Dot, Matt and his Target Zone.

All in all, it was a great time. Especially to be able to discuss the SPORT of bowling in such depth with someone who has alot of knowledge for the game.

Matt, I look forward to meeting up again in the near future. I will keep in touch.

I've met TTforshort ...and he is.  He's also a heck of a nice guy.  I see Bob Hanson pretty often and, as good a bowler as he is, he may be a nicer guy.  His wife is a real champ too.
