Plugging and re-drilling... does it effect the ball?
« on: October 14, 2003, 09:27:24 PM »
I would imagine the ball losses a little bit of weight when it is plugged and re-drilled, but is that all?

The plug material is close in density to the original ball so no real gain/loss of weight.

Just have the ball drilled so that it doesn't roll over any of the plugs if possible. Also they should drill it so they don't drill back into any plugs, if you do there is a possiblity of the plug breaking out.

Pinbuster stated the main concerns.  Really the only other factor is that it could change the dynamics of the core slightly.

I have been buying used balls and plugging them for the last 5 years and have never had a problem drilling back into the plug or the ball rolling any different that it would if it was new. I think alot depends on how good your driller is as far as plugging balls. Good plug work is for sure a master that makes a big difference in my opinion..

I think alot of peoples fear about plugging and redrilling balls are word of mouth from people that have never even tried it..
