my center is reopening June 1st, any word on yours yet?
« on: April 21, 2020, 08:28:08 AM »
Just got an email from my leaague that our center is reopening June 1st. WE need to vote on weather to finish out the season or just call it a day and do payouts as is. How about your bowling center? Have they set a reopening date yet?

Got the word last night my men’s league is done for the year. Hoping to come back in September was the word I got. The center that hosts the league usually closes for the summer in mid to late May.

I suspect my senior league will try to wait it out until things reopen to make a decision. That center is open all summer.

Have no idea.

My wife saw on Facebook where he took advantage of the shutdown though, and had the lanes and approaches completely resurfaced in anticipation of having a full slate of fall leagues.

Hope it all works out. If things are cleared up enough by fall, I’ll bowl, as long as I’m not risking the health of my wife by being there.

Got my fingers crossed. I miss getting to go. :(

This is what I'm hoping most proprietors get to do. This downtime would be perfect for resurfacing the lanes, let alone replacing them. I know a certain proprietor who was given a stipulation for the PWBA tour to return to his house that he totally replace the lanes and approaches, because when he got the lanes in from another house that closed down, he didn't pair up the lanes with the approaches the way they were from the other house, so they were causing some physical issues with the bowlers. Now, he has the opportunity to rip all of it out and replace with new, otherwise the tour may not stop at his house again, and this was a tour stop that the ladies love and want to have.

BL.

Said proprietor is actually doing a full remodel now, possibly from now having the time to do it, since the tour stop would have been 2 weeks from today. Now.. if they can only rip and replace the lanes, then everything would be fine!

At this point I would be ecstatic if the two centers I bowl in were allowed to open in early June. I am however skeptical, and will believe it when I see it.☹

Visited my bowling proprietor who was having food take out (mostly burgers, sandwiches and fries and the like yesterday, and their 12 lanes looked the same as pictured here. Will be quite nice whenever they are allowed to reopen.

I would be happy if they did a top to bottom cleaning of the center.  Maybe hire a full time mechanic to go through and do the same top to bottom cleaning/repair on the machines.
Knowing MWR that likely won't happen.
Y'all be safe and stay healthy!

NC update: bowling alleys can reopen in "phase 2" which could be May 22, but could be never if cases skyrocket in phase 1.

Senior league gave up. Hoping to do a summer league for seniors if things open up enough.

PA bowling alleys cannot reopen until Phase 3 (the "green" phase)...and our county in PA is still in the stay at home phase (the "red" phase) until further notice.  24 counties are going to Phase 2 (the "yellow" phase) tomorrow, but that still does not allow for bowling alleys to reopen.

Probably July/August before bowling in PA really gets going in earnest again.

Bowling centers in Florida are re-opening this weekend.  Barber shops, hair salons, and nail salons are re-opening today.  While the numbers continue to increase, the percentage of those testing positive are decreasing at a decent pace, even with businesses re-opening.

Praying that you all are safe and and starting to see the same or similar recovery efforts in your areas as we are down here.

We're losing one in Omaha.

While one of the TV stations interviewed the proprietor of one bowling alley, and while said proprietor said that times are going to get tough before it gets better, they spun it around and basically said that their alley was closing.

It isn't.

Instead, Leopard Lanes in Bellevue, NE is closing, due to COVID. it's the last of the 3 Cat Houses that were huge for bowling in Omaha (Leopard, Wildcat, Cougar). That was a good, solid house. Gonna miss it.

Doom and Gloom. Blues, Despair and Agony.  :o Let it all out, err, no, maybe not. It's really a downer isn't it? But I can sorta understand your dilemma, as we ALL are pretty much facing the same experience in life at the present time. Hopefully you'll survive and will be living life to the maximum soon and all the weight of the world will be lifted off your shoulders.  :-\
