My dad bowls again..after a total hip replacement !!!

So tonight was a great night ! My pops (75) had a total left hip replacement in July of last year. Hes always been a bowler his whole life and actually had to quit a bout 3 years ago due to the pain in his hip.
 
I honestly though I would never see him bowl again..but tonight I was going through my storage getting out some of my old gear since I'm getting back into the game after a 2 year break and I ran across his gear in there, so I decided to bring it home. So just it just so happens he had a appt with his hip Dr for a follow up and I took him. I ask the Dr about bowling and he said there should be no prob with a little bowling !
 
So tonight I got to see my pops bowl with his trusty MoRich Awesome Hook..Never though I would see the day !
 
 
We shot 3 games a piece on lane #1 with about 20 lanes until next closest bowler. Perfect private time to get a fresh start back!
 
Just thought I would share

Congrats to your dad.  I have a new hip and I waited a year before I bowled again and I bowled 100% better after the operation..and no pain!

that's awesome. I know a guy who just shot a 700 after he's had both knees and shoulders replaced.

I had my right hip (I'm right handed, so it was my non-slide leg) replaced in February, '03, started back bowling in late July and haven't missed a season since.  I've averaged higher the last three years than I ever have, doesn't have anything to do with the wall or strong balls!   --  JohnP

 Thanks for the kind words guys !

 My pops is right handed, and it wash his left leg that be had the surgery on, so his slide leg. I really thought that I would never get to bowl with him again after his hip got bad, let alone having the replacement. I'm planning on stopping in at the Dr's  office today and giving him a personal thankyou. This really ment a lot to me.

To be honest, after we got a couple frames in the first game, I was just was just watching at the table and my eyes got a little watery :)

Its always good to make a comeback, especially if you dont think you'll be able to do it.  How did he feel after bowling?

I think tomorrow I'm gonna surprise him with a new ball try to do some bowling with him this Sunday again.

 Do you know what kind of components they used in his hip replacement?  The ones with the big ball are the hardest to dislocate.  It will give him very good biomechnics.

Had both my knees replaced.   Now if I could get the rest of my components to match up to the new knees,  I could be a whiz.
