Viper pattern
« on: November 21, 2007, 03:32:29 PM »
Last week I went bowling and I'm pretty good friends with the lady that works the counter. She told me that they had the viper pattern on lanes 7 and 8 and asked if I wanted to bowl on one of the lanes. I decided what the heck? I'd never bowled on anything but a THS in my life. She said that the owner guy threw a couple games on it and then had to leave. The 1st 3 games I was above my 182 average shooting a 225, 204, and 185. After that the games definitely went down hill. I'm not real experienced with oil patterns and things such as that but I'd like to say that it was the oil patterns breaking down that made it so hard to hit the pocket, but I really don't have a clue. I would miss right and the ball would skid, and if I missed left the ball would go through the head every time. All in all I felt pretty good about myself and the 1st 3 games. I was throwing a Black Widow Pearl that had just been resurfaced. If anyone knows what I could do for next time, maybe any adjustments or anything, that'd be sweet.

good shooting for your first time out on one, When you bowl on one again remeber to adust fast cause they tend to fall apart more drasticlly than a THS. Also Be accurate that is the most important thing being accurate will make the condition alot easier

Awesome, I appreciate the suggestions. If I ever bowl on one again I'll for sure try it. Maybe I'll have more than 1 ball also Lol. I found a realllllly outside line towards the end but I couldn't carry the 10 pin so that wasn't really working. I don't know but I can't wait til next time.

This pattern plays out, usually near the first arrow.  If you played out there with your breakpoint or starting position, you did a good job reading the pattern correctly.

Well I went in there and I knew the shots that had to be thrown for several patterns, but the Viper wasn't one. I just figured I'd take a few frames and figure out where I should throw the ball. The 1st ball I just threw up the right side gettin it out to probably the 5-6 board and I struck. I stayed in the general area for the 1st game to game and a half. After that it was overhooking. I found a good way to get to the pocket standin over about the 20 and swinging it all the way out to probably the 2-3 board but this is where I left 10 pin after 10 pin. At this point I was too tired really to try anything else. I had just got done with a 12 hour work day and I wasn't really feelin it. Lol. But I loved bowling on something besides a house shot. It was really cool.
