How many drill
« on: January 28, 2010, 12:43:07 AM »
How many here drill their own stuff and even have a machine to get the oil out? I think it is getting to the point that just us regular people are finding ways to do the stuff ourselves. Even online shops are now doing drilling. Do you feel bad for the pro shops that are not online?

Boos / bowl,  Exactly what do you mean by it's time regular people find ways to do the stuff ourselves...

These so called regular people,  are the ones trying to save money by ordering online....

Now, in 25 words or less... could you please tell me why it is a good idea for you regular people to invest in maybe $5000 worth of drilling equipment to drill your own balls...

Yet complain about paying maybe $20-$30 more for a ball drilled by a pro shop...

I'm sorry boos / bowl,  but that makes no sense...

Actually jls, your post makes no sense. His post doesn't say "it's time regular people find ways...", his post says "...getting to the point that just us regular people are finding ways...".

The original post mentions nothing about investing any money in equipment, it just asks how many people do it themselves with the point of finding a way to do it.

I often ask the same question myself. I know some local bowlers who drill their own equipment. I don't personally, as I know my local pro does great work and I need his opinion and guidance on what is best for my game. But I am concerned at times for the state of his business. As a somewhat new bowler, I read about how the number of bowlers continue to fall and think that if we somehow run our local proshops out of business, there won't be league bowling at all. Just my opinion.

Milo,  "it''s getting to the point that just us regular people are finding ways to do the stuff ourselves"
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Sir, that is a statement, not a question.

"how many people drill"  <<< now that is a question....

Now what sense does it make for "regular people" to invest $2500-$5000 in drilling equipment to drill their own balls...

How are they saving money.....

You see sir there are people who drill balls that are called,  "HOLE POUNDERS"

And there are people who drill balls that actually know what they are doing...

Booz / bowl,  his comment about "it''s time"  makes no sense...

Most people today are hurting for money..  and are thrilled to save $20-$30 buying online...

Now what sense does it make for them to invest $5000 to drill their own balls..

Booz / bowl or whatever he is going by now,  has no commonsense...

OMGoodness... He could run for Congress, and then after 143 days, President...

Which is one of the main reasons.

People in this country,  "are screwed".....

Notice after the first sentence he wrote... ????? <<< that means a question.

Notice after what I posted he said, just a .  <<< that''s means it is not a question....

This was discussed in 5th grade...

now

can we move on

My first thought was to just let this go, but since your so good at replying to people with the obvious condescending tone, I just can't pass. No where does he mention spending anything on equipment, not even a dime. It just says "finding a way", which yes, is a statement. But you have the quote all wrong, no where in there does it mention "it's time". The actual text is "I think it is getting to the point that just us regular people are finding ways to do the stuff ourselves". Nothing about it being time for regular people to do so. Just that people ARE doing it.

So, to use the tone YOU love so much to use, this is called reading comprehension, meaning UNDERSTANDING what you read. Which if I remember correctly, was also discussed in the fifth grade.

Thanks sir,  But But, But,  "I still get the pizza's right"

Now as for your last reply... What do you think he meant by finding a way..

Notice, no quotes... in a thread that is about drilling your own..  << notice again sir, no quotes...

I guess i just figured since he was posting about drilling your own, finding a way to me, meant buying your own drilling equipment...

If I was wrong, I'm sorry...

Cause it's Saturday...

And Saturday is PIZZA DAY in the JLS home....

"I still get the pizza's right"

btw

That link I provided will show anyone an address if you type it in... Now yes, there are some areas in BLUE that are not done yet...

My houses do show up...And if you follow the pointer you can go up and down the streets... That area is NOT a ghetto like bong said....

Most houses are well kept and many have been remodeled...

That white boy form Clear View has probably not been east of Pulaski ave. in years... So he thinks anything east is a ghetto... Typical white boy...

Now if that link does not work, IM me with your email address and I will email the actual link to you...  No Charge...

"I still get the pizza's right"

have a nice weekend gentlemen

wow

"finding ways to do the stuff ourselves"  In a thread about how many here drill their own stuff"

wow again...  beat me with a wet noodle...

But to me, a person of COMMONSENSE, that means the possibly getting equipment to drill bowling balls....

I'm sorry I thought it meant a drill press...

I now see, he probably meant using a hammer or chisel.

Silly me

Son? Gee thanks "DAD". Guess I didn''''t hear the music or anyone singing. When it''''s written, song lyrics are usually considered poetry.

Not really a Billy Squire fan, so I didn''''t recognize it. More of an Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix kinda guy myself.

Billy Squire is no guitar god.  I saw him waaaayyyy back in the day, opening for Cheap Trick.  He just sang, didn''''t play guitar in his own show.  Guitar gods rule the show.  Now Stevie Ray Vaughn.......

Now to stay on topic: I agree with jls'' ideas, most of the people that would drill for themselves do so out of an existing pro shop, but there aren''''t but a handful of those people.  Most of the ones that would buy their own equipment, would not buy good or the right equipment.  1. Probably cheap people, 2. Don''''t know what to buy.  If they learn by teaching themselves and trial and error, they are gonna spend a lot of money because of those mistakes.

I don''''t like to get into bashing and slashing on here, I just don''''t have the time, but...  If this Boos is really CBB/Bowl???  Now THIS guy is a dingleberry and needs to buy a box of clues about the pro shop industry.  So take what he says with a whole box of salt.  This time of year, get the 50lb bag of ice melting salt, Lowe''''s should have plenty of them!
