Two years + since I bowled BUT......
« on: February 19, 2007, 11:41:52 AM »
Don't know how many of you remember me posting about what happened to me but the short, short version is: Broke my right femur in Dec. of 04.  Had 4 surgeries since (last one in October of 06) AND NOW....FINALLY.....I am planning to throw some balls this weekend!

I had been using 16lbs and have drilled a 14 and a 15 for my "rehab" practice.  I can't tell you how exciting it is to be so close to coming back and I'll tell ya what...if I am able to come back and bowl at a level like I could before I will NEVER take it for granted AGAIN!

I'll keep you 'posted' lol...thanks for all the kind words along the way plus the prayers and support!

Well good luck on your mission to bring yourself back to where you were. I know that I had a bad back and was out for the better part of a year. Then after 2 operations I am back to where I used to be. May be a long road, but well worth it in the end...

BOWLING IS FUN NO MATTER WHAT YOU SCORE. BUT A 300 IS ALWAYS NICE.

STRIKE ZONE, ONSLAUGHT, REVS, FLIP & PYRO. STAND 22 AND THROW 10 OUT TO 5 AND CRUSH THE POCKET. AT LEAST THAT IS THE PLAN OF THE NIGHT...

GOOD LUCK AND GOOD BOWLING!!!

WOW... welcome back man. I can't even imagine being away from bowling for two years, let alone to have to run a center at the time.
The next time I think of how much of a chore leagues seem sometimes I will remember you and not take it for granted.
The best of luck for your return and bowl great!

Glad to hear that things went well. Hopefully you will be back on the lanes and not lose a bit of game you had before!

Good luck to ya.  I know what it means to be able to do something you love after a long time.  I was sidelined for the last 5 years.  First 2 1/2 due to back & knee injuries.  When I was redy to start back I was dropped by 2 strokes.  It took a year plus but I returned to the lanes last November.  I am not as good as before but I am rusty and trying to make a comeback.  It takes time.  Be patient and just enjoy yourself.

Thanks guys for the nice replies.  And bhlightnr...wow 5 years!  I thought it was bad for me...just goes to show you that no matter how bad things might seem, there are always lots of folks worse off than you are.

I intend to throw some shots on the weekend just to make sure I can do so without pain.  Once I know I can do that, I will set up a little practice schedule and ease back into it.  As fate would have it, the centre that I manage is hosting our provincial (state) tournament in May...sure would be nice if I could lace em up for that!

Thanks again and I'll keep updating...I might even give posting a video a try!
