need a new ball
« on: April 19, 2019, 02:36:30 PM »
I currently throw a 14lb Hammer amp Up. Due to injury I am only throw 11 to 12 mph. What ball is out there that would give me length due to my slow ball speed and have a strong continuous motion on the back end? Just to modify my post. Asymmetrical cores have worked best for me. And I'm not much of a fan of Global.

Not s global guy,  but I am a low speed stroker who has tried the Honey Badger and after dark solid.  HB is very good fir me on some longer oil house shots.   Not so good on flatter patterns.  For my roll it simply wants to be hooked a bit mire than I want on the flat patterns.  After Dark is another matter.  Very uniqu ball that gives me a look I simply don't get with any other dry lane ball.  Great on wet dry house shot.   Good on some shorter oil patern off the corner.  Even had a good look at 4th arrow on a broken diwn Badger pattern

with length and back end in mind my favorite with that reaction is the primal rage remix. i might be a similar style to you in that i have a slower ball speed 13-14 but decent revs. in league i would start out swinging over 10 out to around 5 and by the end of the night i was playing fairly deep depending on what balls i brought. although if you saw me bowling you would think i threw it 18 miles an hour with my mike fagen back swing.
can i AXE you a question

I have tried every thing due to my slow ball speed, and the solution for me was a polyester Track Spare + 15 lbs. I also use an old AMF Cobra 16 lbs. Both balls are high gloss. I found that I needed the weight to get the ten pin out. I tried 14 lbs, but could not carry the ten pin.
So my suggestion, use the heaviest ball with high gloss in polyester..... No pancake weight blocks!

Good Luck!!

This may or may not help.  I too suffer from slower ball speed and I'm somewhat rev dominant.  If you are only bowling on a house shot, then I would look at either the Widow Spare which has the asym. gas mask core or the Track Spare + which also has a big core.  Both are plastic, and with a touch of surface can be played the first arrow and out on most typical house shots with success.  It has helped me tremendously. Now, sport shots and challenge patterns are a different story though...good luck!

Been really impressed with Pyramid bowling polyester balls. Had my Path over a year and still looks great especially for a ball $40 new shipped.  Amazed how well its held up.  Just got the Pathogen blue dot which is a polyester ball with an asym core and really impressed with the hit this ball offers.  Wouldn't hesitate to recommend it as well.  That core works well with a plastic cover and with a little lower diff than others means less risk of missing spares as well (int diff still almost the same).  Ball still flares plenty, looks cool as hell and doesn't track up that easy even after 20 games.
