When you pick out a new...
« on: October 15, 2006, 02:56:22 PM »
Hey Fellow Lane Abusers,
I was wondering if I am the only one that finds it hard to decide on what new ball to finally get.

Here is what I mean. I have been wanting to get a new ball for my Las Vegas league sweeps which are coming up in early Nov.

So after much reading, watching, obseving, drooling, and etc., etc. I came down to two new balls which I would like. So "hawk4life" has this killer deal here on BALLREVIEWS,

So I contact him and tell him if he had a 16# Columbia ACtion-Max and he says yes
, then the next day my brain says to me that I also wanted a 16# Ebonite Infinite-One so I PM him back and ask if that is ok to change and he says no probably at all.

Then a day goes by and I realize that I want the Columbia ACtion-Max again

so he says no problem again <he's a great guy!!> but I feel like an idiot going back and forth with him but WOW! I really would like both of those balls though

Am I the only one that finds it extremely difficult to decide on what ball to get??

Big Jake
Now throwing pretty much all flavors...

I'm with you brother! I pick a new ball to get today, and know a different ball i'll want tomorrow, beleive me it's not just you! It's very confusing, so in school i'll just write out why i want a certain ball, and what exactly it will do in reaction, so when i get home i decide what ball i want, and hopefully keep that decision.. HOPEFULLY!

No, you are not the only one. I have been in a Pro-Shop and seen people jump from ball to ball trying to decide which one they should buy. Only when the Owner comes up and talks to them and tells them the difference betweent he two, do they actually decide on which one to purchase. Most of these people have no idea what it is that they are even looking at though. They end up buying a ball that LOOKS GOOD

But it seems to me, you are well versed on bowling equipment and knew what you wanted this certain reaction out of a ball. Your problem was that both balls were going to give you what you wanted. Why nto buy both and then there is no decision to be made. J/K   But good luck with which ever one you finally decide to get.

Will since I only throw one company it kinda helps out with that confusion is that I only throw one company.  That way I don't have to fight between what everyone else is throwing, and if they happen to release a ball that does not fit my game I don't have to worry about purchasing it.

despite the number of balls on the market it's still the guy throwing it that really matters. some balls are more aggressive and some are mellow. some have a low rg and some are higher. all these things are to be considered. try to find balls that compliment your game and/or lane conditions that you will see.

This is the main reason why I went to 1 ball company myself. I got tired of the multi brand balls that will react close to another brand, so to make life much easier I now only use Brunswick. Makes a ball decision sooooo much easier.

Never had that problem myself...I would just buy both for the heck of it and go from there.
