Need ideas for Tech Videos
« on: October 30, 2006, 01:37:57 PM »
Looking for ideas for future videos...

Is there anything in particular you guys want to see? Whether it be on the lanes or behind the scenes in a pro shop, I can pretty much do anything.

Thanks!

I think some fundamental videos would be nice.  How to have a proper release to be a cranker, stroker, or tweener.  How to approach a correct slide, where your hand position should be and how to follow through. Things like that.  If you're looking more brunswick bowling related stuff, I'd like to see a ball thrown with finger grips, and one thrown without, to see if there's any difference.  I also want to see a pearl particle vs pear reactive ball video.

Show a video of proper fitting.so many people have misconceptions about it.

Proper fitment video could get lengthy, as there are quite a few variables in that mix!

Definitely do-able, but there isn't a standard way to measure a hand. Measuring and fitting a hand are based on ideas, then the variables are put into an equation and the end result should be the final product.

I would love to see you drill 3 of the same Zone ball, say a vapor zone, with 3 completely different layouts.  #1 3 3/8" x 5 1/4", 3" up.  #2 5" by 3 1/2", 1 3/4" up.  #3 2 1/2" by 6 1/4", 1 3/4" up.  Keep all the box surface, and use only axis holes on all 3.  I think this will give people the best idea on how different layouts can drastically affect the same ball.

Traumatize,

The Zones have PSA's, so even taking the CG into account would be silly.

Good idea none the less, better even would be to use NO X-holes even if the statics were over. Drilling 3 balls would be a bit much IMO.

Reaction
1) As cover surface is greatest impact variable,  giving 5-6 grit levels and the impact related to each on length and backend movement. (somewhat like Ebo's new vids) *Noting how some abrasive surface actually decrease backend reaction causing DOA and bad carry

2) Pin length - Show how pin length effects flare and reaction. Distances-0/1, 3 3/8, and 5.5-6. Note* Please confirm the need to find accurate PAP for these to be effective.

3) MB impacting hook-shape and breakpoint. BobbaLAw can pony you up some equipy for this one.

How about showing releases with different amounts of axis tilt?
How to change axis tilt on release, and ball reaction, with different degrees of tilt...I think it would be interesting, as a lot of people don;t really understand it completely (including me).
Picture's worth a thousand words.

Yeah, and put pieces of bowling tape on the ball so we can see different reactions!  That'd be cool

Call me crazy but I'd really love to see a comparison between lane conditions.  It might get a little lengthy, but go through and roll a ball on a normal shot a few times (say a 37 ft house shot), then using the same units of oil per board extend the shot to 38 ft, then 39 ft, up to say 41-42 feet.  or maybe you could go through and use different amounts of oil on the same length and ratio of shot.  start off with say 22 ml of combined oil and just go up 1 ml at a time up to say 28 ml.  Like I said, video could get a little lengthy and cost of oil could get a little pricey but thats something I've always wanted to see,  I mean how much of a difference does 1 ml of oil make, or how much difference does 1 foot longer on the pattern distance make?  either way,  can't wait to see you new vids, the X-hole vid was great.

Releases! Slow motion, different angles. Different releases (cupped vs. broken wrist).  But really how to release the ball correctly. I feel the release is the most important part of bowling well.

Mo Pinel did a display where he drilled 4 weight holes in a ball.
He plugged them with I think it was some kind of slug. He then went on to show what each hole did to the reaction by pulling out one of the slugs in turn.
5 shots in total with the same ball.
I was told it made a very informative demonstration.
Maybe something to try.
