In need of a lite oil ball
« on: July 14, 2005, 08:55:21 AM »
Looking for something to fit between my med-lite oil Backyard Bully and dry and spares Trooper. Want the ball to ignore the heads and midlane and have a strong backend.

I've been looking at the Punisher or the Desert Heat, although it's supposed to be smooth. I dont want a performance ball, midprice is just fine, but is there any others I'm forgetting about? Any replies appreciated..

correct me if im wrong but is the punisher not a medium oil ball? Or atleast a med/light ball? I think it could be too aggressive, but i am not too fimilar with that ball.

3 dry lane balls that come to mind are the Desert Heat, Sahara, and the Dry/R

Havent thrown one myself, but from what Ive seen of the Punisher would be too strong for light oil.

Try a Power Groove. I would recommend some other stuff but all I know is Brunswick...And I don't even know that much about them.

I have both the Punisher and the Power Groove Dry/R, and the Dry/R is about three to five boards weaker, all in the front part of the lane.

IMO the Punisher would overlap too much with the Backyard.

I'd say dry/r.  Slayr might work, but some people have had ones that hook a lot more than expected.

a weak drilled Super Trooper would work as well.

Yeah was also looking at the Super Trooper. Is that ball really smooth or does it have the potential to provide some backend?

Depends on you, I've seen Barnes throw it and it had a TON of backend. Me ? some, but near like him. Polished it will handle dry, cover taken down it's fair in med-heavy oil, but it's mostly best, IMO, med to lite oil, Just My Opinion

Thanks for all your replies. I'm debating as to which ball I should get a spareball or get the ball to fit between the two balls stated previously.

Anyone here know which ball would hook more; A Trooper or a Blazing HARD? Would the HARD have more backend at all?
